Good morning everyone.CC condolences oh It is well.One day by His Grace we will beat this disease called Cancer.

Ladies this month is breast cancer awareness month.I know we like to cast and bind (Me too o if you know how many smear tests letters I used to tear IJN lipsrsealed lipsrsealed), but let's just try to find out and know what signs to look out for.

No vex say I spoil the mood grin grin grin

CC, sorry about the lady's demise. May God grant her family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Cancer is the reigning big killer, deadlier than HIV. I believe very soon, efforts of scientists will be rewarded with a breakthrough in finding its lasting solution.... Enough is enough.

A friend of mine was telling me yesterday of her father's liver cancer and the toil it is taking on the family. The sufferer is not comfortable neither the carer.

It is well with our souls.

U know many pple don't enter here or they only view but I must say this thread is the only thread where we can unwind, crack jokes, make fun of one another and just be family.
In other threads we might do the undoable but once we enter fun room, its fun all d way!
So far, the gals and guys don't really know what dey want and they don't want coaching!
CC on d other hand has corruptible d mariage mkt with her open bribe!
RR went to my state and slept with my cous(still mad at him)
R231 is just equivelant to tom cruise.
As for tilapia, needs tutoring.

My dear you are absolutely right.

Things have really changed and the Govt is really helping too to eradicate this thing. We are at a time where we are now enjoying all the hard work of campaigners, volunteers, scientists etc and we should grab that opportunity.

A few months ago I had a scare and was really worried, but I was pleasantly surprised at how far things have moved on on the medical world.

When I went to see my GP with my concerns, she allayed my fear, but immediately printed out an appointment letter from her computer during the appointment. The letter had a website URL and I was to go to the URL and select a time and date convenient for me. There was a one week waiting list. I selected the time and they posted a confirmation letter to my home address. I guess my GP records are linked to my local hospital records

On the appointment day. Oga and I went to the breassst care unit and found out that everything was done in the same unit. They could do mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsy. The consultant and breasst care specialist nurses are all in the same unit. basically it was self contained. Nice and relaxing waiting room and everyone was nice and helpful from the receptionist down to the consultant. Oga was not allowed in the ladies waiting room so he sat with other men in the main waiting room watching TV and reading papers/magazines.

I had my tests and got the result immediately. I was in and out in 1.5 hours. All this in a free NHS hospital

Why this long epistle . . . .Please ladies dont suffer in silence or be worried. Go and seek medical help if you have any concerns no matter little or silly they may seem to you. You are not wasting anybody s time. Its better that they see 100 negatives than seeing one positive.

May we all live to see our childrens children Amen. it is well

All this talk about cancer - it's so depressing, yet a reality of life.

You know, just yesterday, I bumped into an old neighbour - an elderly gentleman who during our discussion, let out that he had terminal cancer and had known about it for a while.

To say it was a shock to the system is an understatement. Strange thing about it all was his approach - pragmatic. I think he's resigned himself to his inevitable fate as per what will be will be. It's heartbreaking and this is someone who's known all my kids from the day they were born. A real jovial fellow and I've had a couple of heated debates with him in the past.

Lots of people have misunderstood him, but getting to know him better just proves that one must never really judge a book by it's cover.

Anyway, what he said to me yesterday was that he's lived his life and has no regrets. Death is inevitable and we'll all meet at the other side someday. embarassed cry cry

My employers at work offer staff and their immediate family (spouses) the full MOT health check at a subsidised rate. For the over 40's, a free mammogram test is available. You are right CC in saying that it's better to be safe than sorry. Cancer is indeed a killer.
