SAN FRANCISCO, September 02, (THEWILL) –  22 senators elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday congratulated the promoters of the “New PDP”, the breakaway faction of the ruling party, and pledged their loyalty to the faction chaired by Abubakar Baraje.

The move adds to the momentum of the faction which has jolted the presidency and the leadership of the party into action in order to save the PDP from an evident implosion.

The Senators are Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, Mohammed Ali Ndume, Ahmad Zannah, Abdulahi Adamu, Abdulahi  Danladi Sankara, Abdulmumini Mohammed Hassan, Umaru  Dahiru, Ahmed Mohammed Maccido, Muhammad Shaaba Lafiaji, Simeon Sule Ajibola, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Magnus Ngei Abe, Wilson Asinobi Ake, Danjuma Mohammed Goje, Saidu Ahmed Alkali, Ahmed Hassan Barata, Bindowo Umar Mohammed Jibrilla, Aisha Jummai Alhassan, Ibrahim Abdulahi Gobir, Bashir Garba Mohammad, Abdulaziz Usman and Isa Galaudu.

The PDP presently has 50 senators at the National Assembly, while it boasts of 137 representatives at the House of Representatives.

THEWILL expects some members of the ruling party in congress to tow the same path as the 22 senators.

In a congratulatory message to the former vice President Atiku Abubakar, and the 7 governors that spearheaded the split, the senator said, “By this decision that no doubt provides a soothing balm that will calm frail nerves in the party, you have written your names in gold and will be remembered in our political history as men that stood to save the party and Nigeria s democracy.

“We therefore, pledge our unfettered loyalty to the Barage led PDP National Executive.”

Full text of the statement emailed to THEWILL reads, “CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE.

We heartily rejoice with our patriots and eminent Nigerians led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar  GCON, and the Governors of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aliyu Wammako, (Sokoto), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Muazu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Abdul Fattah Ahmed (kwara), and Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), for the bold, swift and courageous step to reposition the People’s Democratic  Party under a new leadership.

We congratulate the new chairman, Alhaji  Abdulahi  Kawu Baraje,  the Deputy Chairman, Dr Sam Sam Jaja, National secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinola and other members of the National Executive Committee for their emergence as leaders of our great  party.

By this decision that no doubt provides a soothing balm that will calm frail nerves in the party,  you have written your names in gold and will be remembered in our political history as men that stood to save the party and Nigeria s democracy.

We therefore, pledge our unfettered loyalty to the Barage led PDP National Executive.

Is it any surprise that all the names are from a single region in the country? Isn't it evident already that it is the same born to rule mentality that is driving their decisions. Only Amaechi and his 2 senators are non northerners.

The same people who intensified Boko Haram just to give life to their promise of making the country ungovernable. Now Boko Haram is literally over and they are beginning to show face one by one.

Just one word:
As they gathered together in 2011, so shall they gather again in 2015.
As they were beaten in a landslide in 2011, so shall they be shattered again in 2015

All of them are northern senators na. Only magnus abe from the south south and ajibola south west. Just two from the whole south as amaechi is the only south in th midst of boko haram governors. Still waiting for the house of rep led by tambuwal from the north to declare. We are watching how this drama will end anyways.

This is a plan to destablize pdp, from my own thinking, atiku is an apc man and he has been sent by them to cause pandemonium in pdp, because with this problem pdp is standing on one leg.

I have predicted what we are all witnessing in PDP today. The game of politics is not for kindergarteners like Jonathan and his South-south plitical Pre-Ks. 2014 is going to be an interesting year. The only person in Jonathan's camp who knows better is Tony Anehni. That is why Anehni doing everything in his power to get Jonathan adopted as consensus candidate.

Here was my recent prediction on what we are witnessing in PDP today: https://www.nairaland.com/1398776/developing-pdp-dead-burial-arrangement

^PDP is playing possum. The only chance they have to win against APC is if they come together. Splitting up would spell doom for everybody. This is a calculated ploy to put APC at ease

Most of you people are liers. Why don't you try and face the fact as it is? Have you forgotten how this started? Let me remind you? It was started in 1999 when an agreement was reached in PDP to start rotating power between the South and the North so that there would be peace. In 2007, Ya'adua kicked started the North's turn in fulfillment of the agreement. His 'premature' exit paved way for Mr GEJ to complete what he started with his boss. He was expected to leave so that the North would come onboard only to turn around acted as if there was noting at stake. He purportedly reached another fresh agreement with the Northern governors again to rule for a single term only. Now that he knows power is sweat, he wants to take the Northern leaders for another ride, despite the lackluster performance , and cajole them into running for second term.
Now, how can you blame them for asking Mr GEJ to honour yet another agreement he reached with the Nothern governors 2yrs ago?

Exactly! But you cannot explain facts to these militants and creek boys we have on nairaland forum. They rather believe in their own spin. They once told us Buhari was behind Boka Haram but now they want us to believe these governors are behind Boko Haram. They are bunch of confused clowns. Jonathan is going down and these militants are going down with him.

APC is the largest party in the history of Nigeria after PDP. They are pulling people in from all directions at a lighting pace.

At the same time PDP is falling apart and is about to split in HALF for the first time in history.

Northern Peoples Congress, NPC, now disguised as APC. Back to 1960, only that no one is yet playing the role the Sardauna, perhaps because the Middle Belt are no longer the servants of the born-to-rule. The Middle Belt will definitely vote with the SS, SE, & 50% of the SW. Saraki is now proving to be more Hausa/fulani than Yoruba. But how far can they push their luck? This is 2013, not 1803.

So now the North is an ethnicity?

SMH at your poor knowledge of Northern Nigeria, and of Nigeria in general. I guess Southerners are also an ethnic group. Everyone south of the Niger is EXACTLY the same, because we are all Southerners? We all have the same interests? We are one solid block of brotherhood, and there is no complexity to our relationship at all? Ijaws, Yoruba, Ibibio, Igbo, Edo, etc are all minor differences? The only thing that matters to us is that we are Southerners?

See how ignorant you sound? As an example, Boko haram is a NE phenomenon, carried out by Kanuri people. Blaming the entire North (and especially Hausa like Buhari) for Boko Haram, is like blaming Igbos for ND militancy.

Yeye marabout. All your rebels are THE BOKO HARAM people. Just concentrate & gather yourselves together, so that Nigerians will see you people for exactly what you are. The entire Nigeria either belong to you, or you scatter it.
Soon you will know who is Hausa, who is Fulani, and who is not.
