If the Job I'm applying for is in anyform related to my facebook acct contents, i'll gradly do so. But again, i think only an unserious employer will go that lengthy.

when will you forsake your 'mumuness‘ and become 'mumuless'?

biafranqueen: This is a common practice, maybe they tried to look you up but your name did not show. As an HR manager the responsibility is to weed out the good the bad and the ugly. Even if you have the skills, you must fit into the company culture. If you are updating every hour instead of being productive, them most likely that is what you will do on the job. I have seen disqualifications because a boy has a naked picture of a girl laying on a car( sexual harresment and pervert) Weed smoking and alcoholic beverages in the picture (addict) degrading or negative updates (troublemake) friends look like Aswhos and cult members (bad characters) No employer wants to waste time and money on hiring and training a misfit. Thank God for social media! Thats why the saying go when the wind blows the chickens Nash will show.

Nobody wants to deal with irresponsibility when money is being made!
I agree with u 100% Dats y I have a decent FB; I will not log in into my account sha, the HR can view my wall through his/her own account

If a gentleman-like facebook page and its content was the yardstick for getting a good job, people like wiz-khalifa will be unemployed for life. cheesy

ehizo25: For me, no qualms. I'll just make sure I carefully monitor the interviewer so he doesn't go where he's not supposed to go. Just my wall abi? You can have a look. I have no skeleton to hide. Besides, you'll likely discern some of my not-too-ovbious qualities.

But I must make sure I change my password afterwards just in case there's some key-logger on the pc.

And ehen, if you don't find anything untoward, make sure you give the job.

@ bolded

that's it.

spicy v: Now, that is one nosy hiring manager! I mean, what's cool about being proud or comfortable with allowing a stranger manipulate me into permiting an invasion of my privacy? If you need to do such, then at least be sensible and respectful enough to do it subtly!

Smart HR managers can get information on job applicants from the social media they frequently use without being so obvious! Frankly, I just think its rude!!!

I quite agree with you to call it rude. but connecting facebook with privacy is a NO NO.

didicold: D question is somewhat misleadin, we should note dat d hiring manager never asked for d password, she asked for d candidate to log in, and as d screen is turned towards d person,@least a modicum of privacy is observed, one can always change passwords.
I know its unusual but i dont think its too strange considering some ppl's names are unspellable on facebook especially wit some current fads "Horlayeancah"(olayinka), and dis is even one of d easier ones, as for me, i would login by myself and give her d pc to check me out online, i am one of those once-a-year posters, so i think am good.

Ʊ are wrong. They want to know if you will divulge your password (it happened @ my workplace and I was affected....) or confidential information of the company. BUT in other words, they might want to know more about what you are

if i understand your post, the HR gave you his laptop to login to your facebook account, which means the laptop would probably be facing you and not the HR so it is not privacy violation cos whatever is in your facebbok profile are being viewed by your friends. It is actually called security violation which means as far as you are concern the HR is a stranger and you should not login to his laptop for security reasons. Simply tell him, Am sorry sir i don't login to people laptop to open any of my sensitive accounts for security reasons, i would appreciate if you would relate the information you want from my facebook account and i would be glad to answer it verbally.
Re: When You're Asked To Log In Into Your Facebook Account During A Job Interview by kayswag100(m): 9:43pm On Sep 07, 2013
Smartest answer. All the rest have been yarning thrash!

point45: Very simple. I'd politely ask what information she's looking to have access to and suggest alternative ways of getting them. I cannot log in on a strange computer for security reasons (and that will also apply when you have an organisation account.) Keystroke logger alert.
Talking about alternative, how about you log into facebook and from there,I can direct you on how to view my profile.
The organisation needs to know you want the job and that they need you. However, they don't expect this to affect your decision making. If for a job you are quick to throw caution out the window, imagine what you'd do with company information just to secure targets. I want the job badly but I am not logging in on this system, you can let me get my ipad from my bag (or phone at worst).

I can never do that, why would i allow a stranger to go on my privacy instead of that i will let the interveiw be, how am i even sure if sh goes through my id i will get the job. Abeg forget that job, i believe she is just trying to test you if u are de type that easly give out information and if u fair the test by given it out that means if u were given opportune to work in that organisation the information there is not safe!
Re: When You're Asked To Log In Into Your Facebook Account During A Job Interview by IGBOSON1: 9:44pm On Sep 07, 2013
If you're that interested in the job and there's 'stuff' on your Facebook that you'd rather not share with the busybody, then lie through your back teeth and tell him you can't remember the password, but that you'll give them a 'poke' and accept his friend request as soon as you get home and retrieve it.....that should give you ample time to log-on and 'clean' it up to a respectable level! wink

I am certain the above painted scenario just serves as a tool to ascertain aspects of one's social behaviour. The truth is u can learn a lot about people from their activities online. U would want someone who is socially, psychologically responsible for whateva task ahead.

Along side of this, though, is d security/privacy question.
The solution: offer to log in on ur own device; or express ur concerns politely at d inherent security/privacy risks of wt u r asked to do.

The bottom line is that u should have nothing to hide. Your virtual & physical versions should match! :-)

Hell to the No! I took situations like this into consideration when i was arranging my cv; for instance, u cant find me on fb with my number, or the email address listed on the CV - those details lead to my linkedin profile.. Even my full name will lead to a dead end, fb-wise.
i anticipated all these, i hate surprises... besides, browsers like firefox can save passwords, to be viewed in plain text when the need arises. I cant be beaten easily on this one. as for the keyloggers; copy/paste will always come in handy..*tongue-out*

Hayjaycity: If you give out Ur password, you ave already failed the interview....its simply indicates you can reveal what is meant to be company's secret for a favour from an outsider, if such is entrusted oin your care. I see no reason why U can't tell the hiring manager, that your facebook password is strictly personal or U can just give it out for personal reasons. This shows you have self-dignity
.... Oga, u ve a nice answer here, bt u dint realy get d info d OP tlked abt,the employer dint ask of d pasword, she flipd d computer screen to ur side and askd u 2 Log in.by ur sef.... Well, in both ways its still invasion of privacy, I like ur coment, bt I jt wana put tins straith a bit
