Pastor Kun: I think this story is really sad and the reality that little or nothing is being done to support conservation by the Nigerian govt those not give so much hope. I don't miss them as such. They don't mind eating up humans they see when they are hungry. |

Too bad for the lions. I haven't been with a lion up close since I was very ypung when I went to Ogba zoo, before they added reinforcements to distance onlookers away from the lion after a lion killed and ate an attendant while it served it a goat. West Africa indeed had lions my Dad told me how he used to encounter them as a child on his early morning trek to the farm. |

There are actually more thhan 34 lions in Nigeria. The university of Nigeria produces more than10000 lions and lionesses each year! |

This news is nt accurate. There ar 3 lions @ zoological garden of unilorin. There wer 2 lions inside d residential manzion of Arisekola Alao in Ibadan. Though d 2 had been died of unknown circumstance & fidau prayer had been held 4 dem separately. Also, dia s anoda one @ Gabriel igbinedion aoz in maitama Abuja, though it s made up of golden artifact. I saw anoda one inside Jagaban aoz in Ikoyi, Lagos, dat one s also made up of a golden artifact. Pls add dis plus oda on d sch badges & emblems of som political parties & mayb organisation, u wil discova dat we hav mor dan 500 lion in Nigeria. Akshow: we have never been animal lover so i guess they won't be missed if they finally go into extinct. for the few that love animal, they can take a trip to east africa to see dem Yeah... But we do have deep respect for these animals traditionally. They feature in our folklore, stories and names. There is an urgent need for govt to work with zoology depts in Univs to set up reserves aimed at protecting and boosting lion recuperation. If farmers are being disturbed by lions they could be tranquilizer and relocated to these reserves. 1 Like |

I like Lions. I hope they don't go extinct. The sad thing though is that the Nigerians don't give a hoot about Lions or any other creature in the wild. Monkeys are killed on site in the villages, not to talk of Lions. We are lucky to still have 34. To some people that's even too much. 1 Like |
