RE: HELP!!! I NEED A TEACHING JOB.
.
MacJC: Teaching job yakpa nor be small!
.
Applicant: what's ds 1 saying sef, where are d teaching jobs? Where are d teaching jobs Adverts? Mtcheww!

.
MacJC: Many schools worth their salt won't place an open advert in front of dr school so as not 2 erode parents' confidence. Whoever wants to send his/her wards to a "teacherless" school, raise up ya hands! **picks teeth **.......... Exactly..... no one!

So if u are d type expecting 2 see a "vacancy for teachers" advert in front of d school,...... u are on a very l-o-o-o-o-n-g tinz!

------------------------------------

Applicant: How then do they advertise these teaching positions?
.
MacJC: Some advertise in d dailies but I tell u it's far in between. Those who do follow this approach are very, very, very....... very few! Due 2 d fact dt d vacancy needs be filled urgently , they ain't got no time for advertising in dailies, so they normally solve d isssh thru any of d following:
.

(i) CV bank:

the first port of call 4 d school when a vacancy occur is to explore their CV bank. Most often than not, they find candidates who fits d bill amongst d lot. So what happens is, they send out letters/mails/text Messages 2 ds guyz inviting dem 4 interviews and once they are satisfied with d output of one of d candidates,...... www.lobatan.cum!

Eyahhhhh......, while u are still expecting the school 2 place an advert, efrytinz haff feenis!

bottomline: submit ur CVs to schools within and without ur hood be4 hand irrespective of a vacancy or not!

.
***Google up schools in ur localty/state of residence or otherwise, and bombard dem with ur CV via mail!***

Trust me, they won't thrash it, they'll file it!
Once dey have ur CV, be rest assured they'll buzz u when a vacancy arises

**listening 2 Adekunle Gold's "Baba God Pickup d call" ***

.
(ii) By words of mouth:

When a space occurs in a school, teachers in that school know and if they have acquaintances who need the job, they give them d 411 asap!
So d school, gets to interview ds guyz in conjuction with those whose CVs they already have......... and when dey see what dey want out of d lot,........ www.dassol.cum

bottomline:

NETWORK! Make friends with fellow teachers online & offline. Let them know what u do, and if possible, u can give dem a copy (soft/hard) of ur CV. Trust me they'll be ur aiz and earz. Whenever stuffs comes up, pronto, them go ping u.......
For instance u may join ds thread's What'sApp group by mailing upload111 on upload556@gmail.com

----------------------------------

Applicant:
Ehn , but sha some schools still advertise in dailies......
.
MacJC:
***cuts in***
True tork, but that's a last resort measure. When dem c say after all d interviews wey dem bin conduct, nobody measure up 2 dia expectation, then dey do dat.
Moreover, by d time d advert becomes public, d candidates go yakpa and this reduces ur chances of.......

---------------------------------

Applicant:

What if d school doesn't pay much?

.
MacJC:
Do u have a better option?

If yes, then call their bluff, but if no, take it!!!

See it as a learning curve 2 ur greatness.
Moreover, u should be "legally" creative. Let's say ur pay is 18k-minimum wage and d school is within ur hood (that's a no brainer- transport on top 18k, how much go remain nah?), u can augment ur pay with private lessons during ur school free periods and after school. You'll be amazed dt u may get much more than ur salary from ds means...........

----------------------------------

Applicant
What if.......
.
MacJC

**cuts in**
Enyia!

E don do! Google is ya friend!

Mtcheww.... **walks out of thread**

Good evening,
I have some pressing questions I'd like to get contributions to
A. How do you handle these teenagers in J.s.s 3?
B. How do you handle a student crushing on you?

For Abuja residents...I got this text from Royal College yesterday...
"Following an application with Royal College Masaka, you are invited for an interview. Date: 29th January, 2016 by 8am at the Confrence hall. For more enquiries pls call ...."
I submitted my cv in December at which time I was residing in mararaba..I have since relocated to Lugbe..
How advisable is it for me to honour the invitation..and on what terms should I negotiate if I succeeded at the interview..
Currently engaged with a home lesson (3days- 2hrs) at Gwarinpa.
What's was your update?

Oga! It is terrible but sir am not an atheist but why should we pray, will God come down from heaven to solve our own problems? How did we get to this level? I think we should brain storm on the way forward. Do you know most employees were not paid December salary? About two 5 star hotels on the Island (names withheld) are owing staff three months salary. There is massive lay off. The economy is not smiling and Nigerians are not helping matters. The dollar as at last night was $305/#1.....kweke!

Re: Strictly For Those Interested In Teaching Jobs by Nobody: 12:18am On Feb 07, 2016
MacJC:

Have u PM-ed him/her?

1. Make small sized flyers - indicating ur services. eg,

"Achievers Educational Services.
. Pls ,call/text us for experienced
Private/Home Tutors.
** Nur/primary
**JSS 1 - 3
**SSS. 1 - 3
**UTME
**SAT 1 & 2
Address: 123 Nairaland Avenue.
Tel: 0801 234 5678, 0901 234 5678"

It needn't be expensive! Typesetting costs an average of #150. The page (A4 paper) can be adjusted to accommodate at least 12 flyers (3 rows by 4 columns) containing d quoted details. Then u can make as many photocopies as u desire. Using scissors/blade, u can cut each page into 12.

2.Advertisement.

Go round ur hood/outside ur hood, look for houses that u feel d occupants can afford ur services and approach them. Ask 4 d occupants from d gateman, Introduce urself 2 them and "sell ur market" 2 dem. Peradventure, u encounter an overzealous maiguard who stands as a stumbling block, or d occupants are not at home, envelope the flyer(s) and ask him to deliver it 2 d occupants one flyer per envelope pls.
If it's d children u meet at home, ask them to give d SEALED envelope(s) to their parents.

CAUTION: (1) be well dressed 4 u'll be addressed d way u are dressed!

. (2) Don't give the flyers just anybody! Ensure u target d well to do (middle class and above) parents ONLY.

. (3) NO need wasting ur saliva/resources/flyers marketing ur goods to d students! Why? They are not d ones to pay 4 ur services, it's d parents!!!
So, I reiterate, target d parents {unless cocksure d student will relay d message to d parents}.
Moreover, how many students value ur services even if their parents can afford it? Of. course, very few.
The majority are very very "beezy" with tugo, African magic, dstv etc, so they see u as a stumbling block 2 dr escapades.
The moment they collect d flyer from u, they hiss and thrash it d moment u are gone!

4. Always put on a smile.

5. Don't appear Desperate!
U must be able yto let them see reason why u are indispensable to their wards academic success. In short, work on ur marketing strategy.

6.Avoid Greek gifts:

When u eventually start teaching their wards, always "put a knife 2 ur own throat" proverbs 23 vs 2-3
No be every chin-chin + La casera dem offer u must accept, or else if month end and they refuse 2 pay u (esp d callous parentz), é go clear 4 ya aiz say na ya money dem bin dey use entertain u, and u nor know! Hehehehehe.

Abeg, try borrow yasef at least small dignity biko!

If possible accept ONLY pure water irrespective of the offer just 2 avoid been termed unfriendly/rude 2 ya host. Tell dem u don chop b4 coming. I know wat I'm saying o, some callous parents use it as a lever to default in dr payments.

7. be discrete/professional!
Once u've started, don't be too familiar with ur host. (Note, I didn't say "don't be Friendly o; there's difference btw d two).
Remember, {over-} familiarity breeds contempt" . Also, "u can't control what u identify with".
Some callous clients will leverage on ur "over-close" relationship to default in payments. So, beware, be professional!

Best wishes!!!
