PDP Crisis: Jonathan Must Make One Of Us His
Vice President In 2015 For Peace To Reign –

A new twist has been introduced to the crises
currently rocking the Peoples Democratic (PDP), as
the group of seven governors who are currently
negotiating with other party stakeholders as well as
the presidency to find a way out of the crisis has
demanded for the seat of Vice President Namadi
Sambo if President Goodluck Jonathan insists on
running for the 2015 election.
The Seven Governors – Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Rabiu
Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Murtala Nyako
(Adamawa), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Aliyu Wamako
(Sokoto), Babangida Aliyu (Niger) and Abdulfattah
Ahmed (Kwara) led by former vice President Atiku
Abubakar walked out of the Party’s convention at the
Eagle square to form a faction of the party called
‘New’ PDP.
The Governors subsequently entered into
negotiations with the ruling Party and tabled some
conditions that must be fulfilled if they are to return
to the party.
The high point of the governor’s conditions is that
President Goodluck Jonathan must drop his ambition
of contesting the 2015 election based on an earlier
agreement reached with them. Others are that the
current chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamaga Tukur
must be removed and replaced with a new person
and that fresh convention of the party that must be
free of intimidation be held. They also added that
Governor Rotimi Amaechi must be recognized as the
Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the
suspension placed on him by the party lifted.
While the governors may have soft pedaled on their
demand that President Jonathan drops his 2015
ambition, they are now asking that the president
should make one of them his vice presidential
candidate if he insists on running for the 2015
election.
The rebel group said that only recipe for peace and
the only reason that they will be supporting
President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid the
President to replace Vice-President Namadi Sambo
with one of them.
