The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) yesterday announced that 100,435 illegal, uncompleted buildings have been marked for demolition following a raid by security operatives on an uncompleted building believed to be a hideout of Boko Haram members near the legislative quarters at Apo, Abuja, last Friday, which claimed 10 lives. Disclosing this when the House of Representatives’ Committee on Public Safety and National Security visited his office on oversight duties, FCT minister, Senator Bala Mohammed said 100,000 illegal buildings and 435 uncompleted houses have so far been identified in the FCT to be pulled down. He explained that his administration would no longer condone the delays by developers in completing their buildings, after being allocated plots of land. “Very soon, we will take a decisive action on uncompleted buildings in the FCT. We will ensure that all buildings that have exceeded the two-year period approved for building will be demolished. If we cannot demolish, we will make them police posts. This time around, we will take a definite action,” he said. http://www.informationng.com/2013/09/abuja-killings-fct-to-demolish-100435-buildings.html 1 Like |

obainojazz: if you understand property business...you will knw those people dont have origina c of o from the federal govt......its not their land miss Some people do not understand that flocking to anywhere, any other person's lands while leaving your own is the dumbest thing to do! Oh by all means, move to the ends of the earth but hold down a solid property in the lands of your fathers! One day, you might just need it! While in the lands of others, do the right thing, get an original C of O so you can enjoy the lease of the land for 99 years (if you live that long), make some money, live well, pass the baton to your children so they can do the same for their kids. Going to Abuja to cry will NOT give you the lands of the Gwaris and original land owners! When Nigeria capitulates, they will still own the land, every one else will have to find their square root! Madam lynpetra, I for like marry you but you seem to be too bitter, are you a learner? Just kidding o, seems you are the type that will go off on a tangent in an instant! Yes, I once lived in that same Abuja and I know how it feels to see how people's houses were demolished (el-Rufai's days). I think people just need to do the right thing and not think they are smarter than others by quickly building on a piece of land that is not legally theirs or approved. Most IMPORTANTLY, you people in Nigeria should vote in REAL LEADERS who have a solid vision, are prepared to lead the country and take you to the level that the West is now in today's world. Most of you especially the SE and SS think more in terms of money, what you can eat, what's in it for you, our oyel, if-Dokubo-is-paid-and-fed-fat-then-all-SS-people are also fed as though they shared the same belly and bank account. Same for the retardeen GEJ. Same for ibos who do only follow-follow to any government in Nigeria in order to gain some eye-service approval. PM joor and I will let you share my penthouse suite in downtown NY with me for a month! 1 Like |

obainojazz: is ur house part of those demolished.....u re spitting too much hate... The hate is deserved. It doesn't have to be her house for her to see the injustice. Over one hundred THOUSAND buildings! Who's paying for that waste? Where will the displaced people stay? The regulatory bodies should do their work at the right time and stop this kind of nonsense. Besides, two yrs to finish a building upon land acquisition Is just not practicable for law abiding citizens in our economy. Are banks going to be (reasonably) co-operative? |

this is pure madness on the part FCT, cant they use dia brain, call everyone with uncompleted building those that cant complete it, should be given a mortgage loan to be paid back for certain number of years, and worst case if they fail to pay back loan the house can be put up for sale. |
