In a fresh attack along the highway where about 140 travelers were killed last month, Boko Haram is suspected to have again killed 10 people. Officials revealed that they found about 10 beheaded bodies at different points along the Damaturu-Maiduguri Highway.


An unnamed army officer told the media that, “We found 10 corpses by the road side near Benisheik just before Ngamdu Village; the victims were beheaded and their heads placed on their chests.”

The Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam, in a chat with the media warned the public to be cautious when plying the Damaturu-Maiduguri Highway. The warning seems to confirm the suggestion that Boko Haram may have achieved its target by making Nigeria ungovernable. One analyst said the comment by the Governor is admission that the taskforce set out to fight the sect has failed to bring the needed security.
