Not even AKA or HHP? I'll have to listen to it first because I don't know it

many people in Nigeria below the age of 30 know nothing about SA music. I am in my 20s and the reason i know it is that i was exposed to music early in life and i was living in Lagos which means more exposure.

In Nigeria today, not even the american music gets aired very often anymore. Every where you tune it to, its is Naija jamz all the way.its

souldust: how comes SA music isnt too famous in Africa any more. In those days when i was growing up, i listened to Yvonne chakachaka, brenda fasie and mariam makeba. Today, SA musicians arent too famous anymore.

Ubuntu ugumuntu gabantu!!!

I dont know if you guys still remember the song by brenda in which she slamed a guys's face with a cake. In it, she said something like: "...you come from Soweto, just like me you thing you're high guy!"
You're right. At a point, South African musicians were dominating the African music scene with the likes of Chaka Cha, Brenda fasie, Mariam makeba, Lucky dube etc but right now, we don't hear anything from their musicians like we used to.

The young ones have taken the centre stage and its imitation of America right, left and centre.

But we have guys like Ringo Madlingozi, Ntando, Thandiswa Mazwai, Zonke, Malaika, Mafikizolo, Unathi Nkayi and Dj Malinga grin

Those are still rooted to their cultures.
