Chibuebem: Phone booths are not really needed these days. But it doesn't change the fact that nigerian's have poor maintenance culture.

I believe we should start by taking pictures of dilipidated structures and posting them here on nairaland and on facebook. Make them go viral. Let the government(and the people sometimes) be ashamed. Maybe they might just start to wake up and fix things(like they did to the policemen caught on camera extorting money grin grin )

Good idea, but how many things you won snap? There are too many rot everywhere you look.

Rossikk: Those things should be removed from there. Even in London etc you hardly see any phone booths these days. Their era has passed.

omaigala: It is so heart rendering to see most of our vital facilities go extinct in the cold hands of the preventable monster call "Lack of maintenance".

I really don't know what the ministry of information and communication and the people at the helm are really doing...

What about Nigeria Communication Commission? They don't care...

Why is it so hard for us to maintain our belongings? Or is it a curse? Why! Why!! Why!!!

"Who will pls bell the cat?"

I don't know what the fuss is all about. Its the same thing here in England. Everyone has a mobile phone so phone booths are derelict/vandalised.

Are you sure?

You hardly see functional phone booths in the UK... Mobile telephones have murdered phone booths...

Even though phone booths are not in popular use anymore these days, they still exist in the UK and still work. Stop lying.

So posting 2 views of a single phone booth equals dilapidated phone booths? Anyway they should be dismantled, no longer needed.

it's not true. There are plenty of phone booths in London and other cities. Including Manchester. Why are you trying to defend incompetence?

Every train station in and outside London has a phone booth, still working very well

You're obviously a little kid who doesn't know the pre-mobile phone era London/UK. If phone booths are now confined to mostly train stations that shows you their era is well and truly gone.

There are not "plenty" of phone booths in the UK AT ALL. How old are you? When was your first visit to the UK? Some of us have been visiting that place since the 1970s, so when we tell you that the phone booth era is gone in the UK, shut up and listen, and learn.

True. Anyone who enters a street phone booth in London today must be on a piss odour sampling exercise.
