Talk of confused people.
Talk of PDP's religious arm under Oritshemumu
As if it is the Governors that are in charge of the security apparatus.
We all see how Jonathan's Government have been harassing a state governor with the Police Commissioner

The Christian Association of Nigeria has condemned recent resurgence of killings by the Boko Haram sect, asking the governors of states in the North to shift their focus from the 2015 presidency to halting the activities of the sect.

The General Secretary of CAN, Dr. Musa Asake, who said this in a telephone interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, added that it was unfortunate that northern governors were spending much energy on stopping President Goodluck Jonathan from running for a second term, while thousands were dying in their states due to Boko Haram attacks.

He said, “For us in CAN, we don’t understand why the attacks started again. We were still celebrating and thanking God that things are calming down, only for this kind of mad killings to occur. I don’t understand how a human being will walk into a school when students are sleeping and slaughter them. There is no justification for it. We condemn that killing in its totality.

“After over 50 students were slaughtered, I expected northern governors not to sleep; to work day and night until they fished out the perpetrators of the crime. But they are only concerned about how they want the next President to come from the North. The whole of their energy is spent on 2015 and making sure that Jonathan does not get a second term. Is Jonathan our problem in the North? Is Jonathan the one killing our children?”

Asake, who is a northerner, said CAN believes that the problem of insecurity could be solved if northern leaders held meetings and developed a strategy to tackle it.

He also said the army should look into its ranks to fish out soldiers who might be aiding Boko Haram, noting that defeating the sect had been difficult because of some “enemies” within the army.

“We applaud the army because they have really done their best to stop the killings. But with the recent attacks, army that is now in control in those states, should wake up and look within themselves. From what we hear, some of them wear army uniform. I know the military is trying its best but these people are outsmarting them in some areas,” he said.

Asake added that though Boko Haram seems to have focused its recent attacks on schools, CAN still believed that the sect was fighting a religious war.

He said CAN’s position was based on the initial mission statement of the sect, in which it said it wanted to Islamise Nigeria.

What are the duties of northarn governors to a state. Allocations from the fed that were suppose to be budgeted for security were been expend on fighting the president for him not to return for second term

What GEJ has done to warrant this much hatred no one knows. But one thing is certain: when this whole fight finishes all enemies of GEJ will come back and GEJ being a good father would embrace them all.

Of whaat use is the hundreds of millions these mumu northern governors receive every month (security votes) if they can't use it to secure the lives of the pple who elected them?

When there was cultist crisis in Rivers State, Amaechi was getting N500 million monthly as security votes and he found a way to infiltrate them nd resolved the crisis (though with help from the JTF) Amechi bought patrol pickup trucks forthe JTF and gve them logistics. How many northern governor hs done that? They don't even address the press when these brutal killings happen in their states.

The annoying thing is that they don't have an idea of where BH terrorist hide in their states but if GEJ farts in Abuja, they will know that very second. This shows the priority of these governors.

As some1 who is against religion in any part of Nigeria, I agree wit wot dis CAN guy said. And have any1 Noticed that even the people in d states dat are affected have not risen to ask dere governors why? Hw can d North run dis country wen dey can't run a state. GEJ has provided them with every money necessary, every force necessary and yet. Most Nigerians are really bad @ taking responsibilities for anything. GEJ can not abandon Nigeria n enta Yola to follow fight BH, he can only provide necessary finance/equipment n hand over to the governors since according to the SOE agreement are still in charge.

Religion is a sensitive issue in Nigeria, inasmuch as you see yourself as a Government critic, please desist from calling the CAN president derogatory names. What right do a muslim have in calling CAN President 'orishemumu'? You respect your leaders even when they said FG should give BH members Amnesty and disrespect leaders of other religions when they make a simple statement like the one you highlighted above.

It's high time someone said the truth. Their states are burning and they are busy fighting GEJ over who should and who shouldn't contest in 2015. It's clear what their priorities are and the welfare and safety of the masses is certainly not one of them

1. Nigeria will like Jonathan to know he is free to vacate the seat if he can not face Boko Haram, criminals and corrupt politicians.

2. Also CAN should face the gospel of Christ and leave Politics alone.

In Nigeria, we want leaders that takes the issue of uniting, developing and empowering Nigerians seriously. Not those that attract only criminals, boko boys, worst politicians - and granting them pardon too.

I am a Christian, but I am dissapointed in CAN!

Why is this organization always speaking on behalf of the President?

A true Christian organization will criticize anyone and everyone that violates scripture, including the Government. Especially the Government! It is their job to give voice to the concerns of the abused and disadvantaged. They should be the number one campaigners against corruption and violence. They should put fear into our leaders hearts by reminding them of God's power and judgement. I have not heard this "association" say one word on behalf of the average Nigerian. CAN is just a political organization now.

Jesus Christ is not for sale in Nigeria!

I REJECT CAN and their demonic leaders. Fat corrupt pigs pretending to be men of God. I wonder how they sleep at night.

Anytime you want to introduce a thread to this forum, make sure you post the original message from the source and leave it there, but you can comment thereafter, DO NOT MAKE YOUR OPINION ALONGSIDE THE POST, thats plagiarism and I will report you for a ban next time you do that. This is just a warning.

Regarding the statement by CAN. In whose interest is Boko Haram killing innocents people ? And in whose interest are the Northern Governors fighting Jonathan ?

These are destructive people, who want to make Nigeria to fail, they want to distract Jonathan using bombs of Boko Haram, and they ARE also traveling across the country destabilizing the polity. My question is, whose interest ? The truth is, these Northerners, by using Boko Haram and other surrogates to cause problems for Nigeria is working against Nigerians, and Nigerians need to look at the larger problems that could decimate this country further.

Jonathan can afford to fail, but he is working tirelessly to succeed, but in the event that he fails and he is forced out of Aso Rock, I can assure all of you that you individually will feel the pains of that failure in your very households. So it is necessary for all, to warn people of Northern Protectorate that Election was over, the winner of that election should be allowed to concentrate.
