Governor Godswill Akpabio of AkwaIbom State, on Friday, attributed the many  problems in the country to false prophecies by some clergymen.

A statement sent to Sunday Punch by the Special Assistant to the governor on  Media, Mr. Jackson Udom said the governor made the observation at a Gala night in honour of the participants of the 28th General Assembly of Christian Council of Nigeria  in Uyo.

The governor said, “A lot of problems we have in this country are because some bishops and pastors speak when God has not spoken.”

He said, “A greater percentage of problems in this country are caused by false prophecies. In your daily ministration, you must always allow God to lead you. Don’t speak when God has not spoken.”

He thanked the council for the recognition, and admonished its members to remain focused as leaders in their various churches.

The President of the council, Most Rev. Emmanuel J. Udofia, who announced the conferment of the Most Church Friendly Governor Award on the governor, said the award was in recognition of Akpabio’s “qualitative leadership and exemplary service to the church and  humanity.”

Udofia also said, “In appreciation of your good work to God and humanity, the church honours you with the Most Church Friendly Governor Award.”

So this is reason for the failed country and not the mass looting, die hard corrupt corrupt politicians and leaders and a lackadiasical attitude from the government towards the needs of it's people.

Is this the only reason he could come up with and is this the same man the indigenous people of Akwa-Ibom installed in to govern them. Nigeria's pathetic.

Yes oo! Well spoken BUT question is, do we need prophecies to know that prospective or current politicians would be corrupt? Naaa its all in their DNA and can't be changed. Tif large, work small people!

what is he saying? Did those false prophecies made him and his accompanies to rig the NGF Election that caused problem in Nigeria? He is as guilty as the false prophets too, they are all collectively behind the problem of Nigeria. Though i loud him for the uncommon transformation in Akwa Ibom state, atleast unlike Delta state where we can't boast of any reasonable project 4rm the said Governor{names whitheld}hmmm lols!

Make him just shut up him mouth! If a clergyman has told him that he would be the next president or that if he contest the next senatorial election that he would win, wouldn't he have given that clergy a bogus amount of money and start drumming praise for that clergy?

He is just being hypocritical.

Coming from a man who arranged with his thugs to kidnap the wife of a stronger opposition ,raped her , took pictures of her nudity and posted it online using it to blackmail the husband into shame/surrender.......The numerous high profile murders that took place in Akwa Ibom state which the police couldn't crack because the oga at the top is the one pulling the strings whilst paying them peanuts to manage their miserable lives.....smh......all Nigerian policemen and women have bloods on their hands embarassed

well, Sir Criminal Akpabio continue licking GEJ's A$$ to enable you represent your poor people in the senate and get some peace and a chance to plead for your misbehavior while cooling off from those big toes you've stepped on >: (.....2015 would be a lot of drama)smh

Meanwhile your enemies are drawing nigh casting upon you and measuring you with the same measure you measured them with......a word is enough for the wise cool

Don't you know that 10% of Nigeria's looted fund is found in the churches either as tithe/offering or donations? Why do you think churches are springing up like kiosks in the country? To get their own share of the national cake through tithe/offerings and donations, of course? The pastors are having a boom while the country is in a doom. So sad. sad sad

very good english, decent presentation and words of wisdom yet VERY VERY IRRELEVANT TO THE THREAD. this is a beautiful nonsense. a square peg in a round hole. pls keep this poem for another day.

@topic,
the biggest problem nigeria has is the politicians who claim to be leaders. they only teach their followers how to steal, kill and destroy. the biggest problem of these criminal minded politicians is their inability to take responsibility.
we saw akpabio call white green during the NGF election. the man turned a looser into a winner and a winner becomes a terrorist. it is a shame that those who we look up to have nothing good to offer and they tell us what we know very well from another angle. we all know these politicians have their separate alters and sources of powers far from these fake prophets he is now blaming.
which fake prophets told u that if u rig amaechi out of ngf chairman, nigeria will move forward? did the fake prophets told ur oga to remove fuel subsidy or increase electricity tariff every minute? oooooookkkkkkkkkkkkk, na fake prophet tell una this new plan to ban tokunbo cars? no worry, soon we will meet u and ur various fake prophets.

Religion Religion. Worst thing to happen to Nigeria. He is accepting an award from a church just seconds after he said the problem of Nigeria is religion, dis people dey fink with dere a*ss oh. So he is saying that the problem with Nigeria is religion but the church dat gave d award is not among, SO? Which religion is he talking about cos as things dey 100% of the prophets are false. (Yes I said it). Religion has taking away the humanity in us. Religion has ruined more lives than it has saved. Religion is to politics, as Red is to colour
