Manufacturing Sector ''Doing Well'', Says M.A.N. - (Pics)

AWKA - The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has said that the sector has grown considerably over the years in spite of the obvious challenges facing it.

Mr. Chris Oranu, the Second Vice Chairman of the Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu branch of the association, told newsmen in Awka that the growth arose from the backward integration strategy of the Federal Government.

Oranu said the strategy was yielding positive results as most firms in the country were now relying on locally-sourced raw materials.

He admitted that some enabling factors like power and good road networks were lacking, but expressed confidence that President Goodluck Jonathan was making efforts to improve the situation.

“The Nigerian manufacturing sector has not been as bad as people would think. There may be few factors that are not friendly to it at the moment like infrastructure and security, but honestly, a lot has been done to improve the situation.''

“The truth is that there are challenges facing the sector. We may not be able to get the entire prerequisite like energy, security, cost of credit and good roads overnight but if these things are provided satisfactorily, the industrialisation process will be a lot easier.

“The various commercial policies of the present government have encouraged manufacturing greatly and Nigeria is still the best place to invest; that is why the foreign investors are here, so it is wrong for us to take our investments elsewhere,” he said.

The intriguing thing is I've never known M.A.N. to admit that the manufacturing sector was doing well. They've always said it was terrible, as far back as I can remember. So these upbeat analyses of the sector by MAN which we see these days is something very new indeed.

Why being deceptive when posting something of this magnitude? I opened the link and there's no place in the link where any of those pictures you posted appeared in the publication. This is what is called intellectual dishonesty. You are a very dishonest person. You have violated politics section rule and should be dealt with accordingly. You just went online to randomly select pictures that soothe your post.

Why do some of you believe in deceit? You are doing a lot of people a deservice by misleading them with those pictures. Those pictures have nothing to do with the link you posted.

This is very shameful.

Is the thread not about the Nigerian manufacturing sector?

It must be really hurting you to look at those images. Do you need an aspirin?

Rubbish!!! Their opinion which is far from the reality on ground. What is the level of manufacturing capacity utilisation? What percentage of per capita GNP? What percentage of the labour force are employed in manufacturing? Give me these figures then I will take them serious. Till then this is an nkwobi seeking statement.

BY THE WAY, HAS HE PAYED THE STATES YET OR HAS THE MONEY VANISHED INTO FRESH AIR?

Illiteracy alert:

Definition of factory:

A factory or manufacturing plant is an industrial site, usually consisting of buildings and machinery, or more commonly a complex having several buildings, where workers manufacture goods or operate machines processing one product into another.

EVERY facility posted there is a factory. Dummy Dum Dum. Agbekpo pretending to be educated.

Err no.. it was M.A.N. who stated the economy is ''doing well''. The posted images were merely to showcase a select few of the nation's manufacturing establishments as a way to visualise the progress being made...
