Congratulations Batch "C" 2012/2013! Nevertheless, Y(our) Service Continues! by NeuroBoss(m): 3:58am On Oct 10, 2013
The journey all started from Nov. 6, 2012 when we arrived at our various camps. Expectations were great and we were all determined to make the best of our service year. We wished, we hoped. Right from inside camp, reality set in. We discovered, there, that an Odyssey, the service year would be. And so it was.
Nov. 27, 2012, was when we were dispatched to various PPAs and there, for some of us the hassles started. Many went through hell to locate theirs. Many were rejected and were left dejected. Accommodation for many na wahala. CDS, LGI, rural community life were some of the problems some had to cope with. We have Veni Vedi Veci! To God be all the glory. We should start letting go of regrets-Missed opportunities, extravagance etc and start concentrating on the big picture. Let's forge ahead! Think about the positives! The lasting friendships you have made-the connections, the little savings. Suddenly, you can call the chairman of an LG in Imo for a visit from Osun. Something you cannot do 11 months ago. Now, your little cousin need not worry about posting to any state in Nigeria as your former State Co-ordinator, Z.I and/or LGI would that for you.
Granted there are things we would have loved to do differently. We should not dwell on our inability not to do them. NYSC is just a training ground and during training, we fail many times. The outside world is where we manifest.
Oh jobs! Let's not worry they shall come in drove. While waiting for the dream jobs, let us engage in any noble thing our hands find doing well. Remember, an idle hand is the devil's workshop.
Better still, to create a more glorious future, let's strive to be creators rather than consumer of jobs no matter how little. It will only take grit, time and endurance. That way, we would be helping ourselves and countless others. It shouldn't all be about us. We should care about others. Though, the National Youth Service ends today, NYSC to us, should mean Nevertheless, Your Service Continues- service to God and Humanity. Once again, Congratulations!
