Obi of Onitsha, Dr Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on Tuesday, October 8, formally kicked off this year’s Ofala Festival with the traditional regal dance at his Ime Obi Palace, just as he showered encomiums on Globacom for supporting the festival

The monarch, fondly called Agbogidi, majestically danced out of the inner part of the palace, clutching the adana on his right hand.

Amidst cheers, he acknowledged greetings from his traditional red cap chiefs, who in quick succession joined the Obi’s procession. Taking salute from all corners of the thickly crowded palace arena, he danced round the pavilion before finally settling into his chair.

He was thereafter greeted by other traditional rulers from different parts of the country. They included Attah of Igala, His Majesty, Agabaidu Atah Idakuro, His Royal Majesty, the Amanyanabo of Opobo, Andrew Jack, His Roayal Highness, Igwe Tony Onyekwere of Owerri, His Royal Highness, Igwe Nwaozoetwe Odate of Orana Etiti and Navy Commander Emele among others.
