I've been posting on the forum for a few months but I can't seem to successfully insert a hyperlink. At best, it displays the URL.

Could anyone help please? Your time is greatly appreciated.

Also how do I insert pictures into a post?

To post a picture into post just type or quote the post and click on insert photo any of the spaces provided below (outside) the comment box it will take you to your picture gallery where you can choose which photo to add! Afterwards click send and if the pix is of the right size it will upload under your comment. Hope I've helped? I don't know about the hyperlink sorry.

What you could do is to look for a post with pictures inserted in its body and click quote. I think it will give your the code for the picture. That's what I did to figure out how to hyperlink. let me know if it works. I'll go find some posts too

By inserting images inside posts, are you talking of stuffs like this:

That is called inline images in technical terms.

To do this effect, follow the steps below:
1. Get a dropbox account - visit dropbox.com
2. Upload a photo to your public folder in dropbox
3. Select the photo you just uploaded (automatically selected sha)
4. Create a public url of the photo - it will give you something like this - https:///I09iTnoO
5. Paste that public url to nairaland - highlight it and click the image button
This will surround the selection with an image tag giving you something like this:
[img]https:///I09iTnoO[/img] - for some unknown or mysterious reasons (a bug likely), if you use an image that starts with secure protocol i.e. https, nairaland will not show it and will just display the entire image link as shown.

But if you try removing the extra s and have it like this (minus the spaces): [ img]http:///I09iTnoO[/img] - note that i added the spaces to confuse nairaland, you shall surely get this:

[img]http:///I09iTnoO[/img]

You can also use http://tinypic.com to upload your picture, copy the link after upload and insert it in between the img tags

I did a little research for you, here it is: highlight the text you want to hyperlink, and click on the hyperlink button in the editor menu, it the globe button you can see there, then next you will see something like this "[url] click here[/url]" , do this next: add an equal sign followed by the link/address you wish to link to in the first bracket. it should look like this now
