There appears to be a conflict of interest over the
welfare of Quineth Owolabi, the remaining crew
member who survived the Associated Airline
crash last week Thursday. Before the crash, she
was said to have sat at a back seat of the plane
along with her colleague. Owolabi is still being
treated at the Nigeria Airforce Hospital, Ikeja,
Lagos State, but earlier on, her friends had gone
to the public to solicit for funds to fly her abroad
or to a ‘better’ hospital. But when Saturday
PUNCH spoke with Quineth’s husband, Mr. Tunji
Owolabi, he said there was no cause for alarm.
His wife reportedly suffered third degree burns.
Meanwhile, using online platforms, her friends
had expressed fears that she might have been
abandoned by the airline management, while
other survivors like Feyi Agagu, have access to
better health care.
But her husband said, “It is not true that she has
been abandoned. The company has been
wonderful and the hospital has been treating her
well so far. She is still under intensive care.
“The company has promised that it would pay
back all we have spent. The Facebook account
opened to solicit for funds was opened by my
wife’s friends for support. I appreciate the
doctors.”
A statement which reportedly emanated from
friends was posted online thus, “The friends of
Quineth, a crew member of Associated Airline
who survived the plane crash that happened last
Thursday morning are trying to raise money for
her treatment.
“They are asking kind-hearted Nigerians to please
donate to her. The money will be used to transfer
her to a better hospital where she can get better
treatment.
“Quineth is a cabin service manager with
Associated Airline. Quineth is a mother of two.”
However, in reaction to the post, some
concerned members of the public, who
commented online, had insisted on the need to
fly the survivor abroad for better health care or
taken to another hospital.
Ezems wrote, “She is healed. Amen. But the
room she is in looks weird.”
“Third degree burns! They better move them
abroad before they succumb to complications
arising from the burns,” an anonymous post
states.
Another said, “Thank God for saving them but
they should take these people to Primus Hospital,
Abuja or the United States of America.”
Meanwhile, the trend of posts on the blog
showed that many of the visitors had suddenly
put on pastoral collars.
In empathy-laden lines, they rained fervent
prayers for quick recovery of the survivors.
Some prayed as if the victims were physically
present, urging the healing hands of God to
move supernaturally in their favour.
“There’s a Balm in Gilead, and also a physician.
For them to have survived, God has a purpose for
their lives. I wish them an amazing recovery.
Amen,” wrote an anonymous visitor.
Lucy Adeniyi said, “The Lord Almighty will perfect
your healing in Jesus name.”
Another person wrote, “The God that saved you
from that ill-fated flight will also heal and keep
you in Jesus name. Amen”
Bolatito Fashina said, “Receive your healing in
Jesus name. You shall live and not die in Jesus
name.”
“Dear God, please help these people in their time
of need. Heal them, help them out of this
situation and grant them life, long enough to
share their testimony. In Jesus name I pray,
amen,” another anonymous person wrote.
Chacha wrote, “The Lord who didn’t watch you
die during the crash wouldn’t abandon you now.
The Lord shall see you through in Jesus name.”

I say Amen to this prayer.

On a more serious note, if the government don't want to give her the best treatment to cure and rehabilitate her, they should allow the public to help out.

She must not die neither will she be deformed because of neglect.

“The Lord who didn’t watch you
die during the crash wouldn’t abandon you now.
The Lord shall see you through in Jesus name.”

If Feyi Agagu deserves to be flown abroad for better treatment,I wonder why this lady doesn't deserve the same.

Get well soon sis!

Owolabi no matter what as the husband you should be on the front line of this campaign haba!

What is good for the goose is good for the gander, third degree burn or what with what I'm seeing that woman needs better medical attention.

I wonder why the man is busy praising the airline instead of pressing for a better care for his wife. I smell a fish sha. Wonders shall never end
