stewie100: isn't it funny that texas is the size of nigeria yet it takes just 2 hours on the freeway from Dallas to Houston equivalent to calabar to jos.below are some American interstate freeways around texas area.Baba, America is 237 years independent, let's not go into the years before then. Much of that same America built by the sweat of slaves exported from Africa. Nigeria was at sometime somewhat better, but like every other political anomaly created in Africa by the white men, we are a work in progress. And one day, probably not in our generation Nigeria would get to her utopia. Updated : I don't think you have visited the ranch. You cannot just relocate the villagers. Hell, its their land. Their ancestral land. You can't change the name, marketing death! Ask those that have been there, the ranch isn't technically in Obudu again anyway, yet the name sticks to it. Girrafe and Zebra ke? That cold will kill them all. Lemme see you try to make a disneyland out of a place enjoyed for its natural serenity and beauty. Infact your plain ignorant. #rubbish. 1 Like |

stewie100: if i were to purchase the resort ranch as privatization i would turn it into disneyland, its a shame black people cannot make use of their thinking faculties, celebrating mediocrity and too busy yapping without listening, here is what can be done @Stewie100! You have some really nice concepts up there. However, i disagree with few things unless you are looking at things like urban renewal. If that is the case you will be taking away the Obudu feel By taking/relocating away the villagers....don't you think you are systematically ruining the authenticity of the destination? Mind you, most tourists visit places just to feel the authenticity! Fake snow in Africa C'mon, just leave Africa the way it is. There is beauty in the jungle itself for the adventurers, risk takers, drifters etc etc. Even if you go to Disney in Orlando, or Cleveland Zoo or any zoo at all in the US, they try to present "Africa" and trust me, these guys are good. Light railway! Yea, way to go.....somehow this Obudu will increase traffic if only they have a reliable transportation network. it does not have to be cumbersome to enjoy yourself nah (except if that is what Obudu is selling-and i seriously doubt, because we all know Nigeria) The cottages should be left the way they are-The only thing i STRONGLY disagree with is the pricing! HABA, Kilode $500-$1000 for a night? These people should be careful nowww Which resort/destination in the world does that?? Lastly, the name can remain Obudu.....(It is part of the authenticity my brother or na Sister) Perhaps, if you have a chance, you can read "Staged Authenticity: Arrangements of Social Space in Tourist settings"- Dean MacCannell (1973). If you ask me, destinations rise and fall. However, Obudu is yet to be born let alone rise, before falling. Obudu is still an idea You can read more why destinations rise and fall in " Stanley Plog (2001) Why destinations rise and Fall in Popularity". Adios 2 Likes |

And no, I will not respond to your insults. Please, how am I supposed to know your identity to want to scam you? And why are you scared of your old pictures? Well, only you knows what you did in Nigeria that you are scared of. Deal with it and move on. |

Da fück, I've been engaging in useless banter with a mentally colonised, self-deluded Guy who thinks that Nigerians in Nigeria are shït, but still comes to a Nigerian forum created by a Nigerian in Nigeria to spew rubbish. OP, am so sorry for derailing. And I promise not to derail or respond to the so-called liberated Stewie100. Incase you guys don't get what I mean, just take a litle look at his profile and his topics. |

i'm laughing so hard, relocate villagers to city and replace them with giraffe, lions, zebras and hyena lol not farther from the truth anyway. Yeah name it Green Hills Mountain Resort and see how the Europeans flock in. That name Obudu is scary I wonder how the security is like at Obudu, any idea? stewie100: if i were to purchase the ranch i would turn it into disneyland, its a shame black people cannot make use of their thinking faculties. they love celebrating mediocrity ,low standards and too busy yapping without listening, here is what can be done |

flakky legend:..God bless you.as at 2009 when I plied that road from that YAYE junction to a village just before Abakaliki and back to IKOM(where I was based then)my brother I couldn't leave my hotel-room for 3days. That road(though CCECC's yard was stationed there that time)was the worst road in Nigeria.I vowed not to try it again in my life..hope they have finished the road now? |

peleson: That is why I say Donald Duke is the best president Nigeria is to have. I beg to disagree with that. Good projects but not well thought out. Especially that Ranch, it was sited at Obanliku Local Govt., I would have expect the people of that LG to insist on the appropriate naming, how many people of both Obudu n Obanliku can afford even the gate fare? I served in Boki East n can tell u dt that axis electicity is non existence, there is no standard school of any category, most of the locals have never been to Calarba the state capital in their life time and may never go their, I visited the Ranch it was such a beautiful project but meant for only the rich, yes I've got to appreciate good thing but the journey from Calarba will take an average of 8hrs if u don't want to have road crash. Let me just stop here because most Crossriverians as they liked to be called need to start holding their Governors accountable. 1 Like |

bee-y:People and talking, just read through this thread. Obudu to Calabar is about 4 hours now. The ranch is not only for the rich please! And our Governors have all been wonderful in their own rights. And this naming ish you are talking about, the ranch was established in the Nineteen Fifties, Obanliku was created out of Obudu in less than or about 20 years ago. You don't just change the name like that, it is a marketing disaster. And a certain someone was saying change the name to Green Hills Resort, let me see you call a place that isn't green in the dry season a Green Hill. 1 Like |

django1:I see mountain views all the time, the hotel I usually lodge each time I'm in Abuja give me all the breath-taking mountain views Obudu Cattle Ranch gives. As for the cable car..,I'm not bothered by the sight of it as the view of those Bentley,R. Royce,Range Rover,Buggati Veron and Ferari cars parading the streets of Victoria Island are far more than enough. |
