Guys need your tips and advice on 05/06 gx470. The rainy season is fast approaching and am scared what the water pond(river) usually on my road during such season would do to my IS250 AWD. So I need advices

Offered same along with an 08/09 ML 350. Same price bracket

According to my mech.
Pros.
ground clearance.
Siting capacity
Height adjustment

Cons
It's a V8 as compared to the ML a V6( fuel consumption wise )

Said generally the maintenance and reliability was basically same.

And for the Benz, all he said was that benz is a statement

So at least I want to get first hand opinion from Lexus users. As to what they face.

And if you would support my choice of getting one.

Please be sincere with your experiences. Plz

thanks guys

ML has V8 engine variants called ML550. They have 16 cty/21 hwy mpg

Sorry for the delay bro, I just noticed your thread curtesy so much activities I've been doing.
Did anyone carry out any repair operations on the boot or its electronic control system? What made the controller to be removed?

If you have pictures of the parts removed or area where it was removed from pls upload it here let's solve this issue.
Thanks for your reply. Actually saw the problem at the point of purchase, the dealer promised to fix it once a deposit is made. But the story changed after the deposit. The real problem is that the controller was removed. He Said I should pay extra fee for that, against our initiall agreement. So i was not having the money@that moment, coupled with annoyance from his disspoinment. Later I gave my in law the car to help me and fix it at aladipo auto market. He called me told that has been done. But after one I came back and discovered that it is still the same. I called and informed him, but it was from one story to other. In fact I need someone that know lexus electrical wiring very well that can make it work perfectly. The auto boot controller or engine Is remove. I don't know the reason why it was initially removed. I just bought the car, is just few weeks old in my hand. It cant open and it cant close unless I did the opening from inside.
Is RX 350 2007 model. I will try and see if I can upload some pix

Mr Bayo, welcome to the elite lexus club. The Lexus Don't have a Navigation map for Nigeria. You can duplicate the ignition between 10-20k (I stand to be corrected tho).

Meanwhile, upload pictures of your sweet ride let's celebrate this. I am happy for you.

I use a 2005 RX330 AWD with Nav and rear DVD. cool

@lomomike, I just got an RX330 2004 model for my wife. The Automatic headlight level system warning light is on, how do I Remove/reset it? However, I replaced one of the charging systems for the headlight. Has anyone had the same warning light on before?

I've not replace charging system before. What kind of warning light is lit on your car?

By the way, welcome to Lexus elite club. Do you know the RX330 was the entry level Suv for lexus till the introduction of the NX200 this year?

So imagine who well built and beautifully crafted such an entry level car is plus the options and standard equipment it has to offer for a 2004-2006 year model car when compared to others in the same category within the luxury class.

By the way, the picture below is where you activate the AFS light. If you press it, it should turn off the light in the dash and activate the Active swivel Frontlight System.

Take a picture of your dashboard where the button is suppose to be. Let's see what's what and what's not.

The picture as you requested.

For a lexus RX330 with AFS lights, they've removed the AFS switch. Try opening the stub above the fuel door button and inspect for any wiring or panels.

Pray they haven't removed the actuator/sensor at the rear suspension which auto levels the headlamp too.

(Don't hold me responsible if anything goes wrong)

The stub does not look like something that was removed because that place is very strong. I had tried to remove it before but could not. It's very firm. I will try again tomorrow but in any case, what's the worse possible outcome should your suspicion is confirmed? But my lights work fine at night.

I have also read on other fora while researching this warning light that others who have the same model have the warning light on but there's no AFS switch.

Finally did the re-setting of the ecu via removing the car batteries, also reprogrammed the memory seats, windows and the moon roof.

Observations.

1. After reconnecting the batteries it took the car awhile to start after three attempts, on the one the third try it reluctantly started, but the rpm was very low around 250 rpm (which caused some mild vibration in the engine) after a long awhile it normalized a bit.

2. The dash mpg readout was reset and had to start from 0.0, after i took it out for a drive the mpg reading started from 0.0 and slowly climbed 0.0, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4,..........till this morning on my way to work it has gotten to 13,3mpg which is the higest i've seen it since i got the car two months ago. I am hoping it will get to the promised 22 - 23 mpg city.

For other rx 330 users is this how the mpg reads after a reset?

Yes that's how it reads after a battery terminal disconnect.

My mpg is stuck at 13.4 WTF!! However the graph live readout shows slightly above 15mpg during feather touch acceleration and around 10mpg during hard acceleration, this is not counting the long coasting i've learnt to do, yet the darn thing wont bulge above 13.4mpg.

When this current fuel scarcity subsides i'll do the manual check to see if there is any improvement, cos am beginning to lose faith in my on-board mpg read-outs.

Lomomike what mpg readings do you get from your dash? since you have the rear dvd yours will be with navigation screen.

Or lets take this a step further by people posting (with pic) their mpg reading.

These are pic i took. The one with 30mpg was wen i was on a steady speed.

While the others were light acceleration.

So what do you think? All this for 13mpg!!!

Re: Club-Lexus by Emperoh(m): 5:36pm On Mar 02, 2015
My average on the ES330 is about 19.8 MPG.

But a 65 litre fuel takes me about 330 kilometres.

Wondering what the difference is now

Hello Mike,

Good evening. I just came back from work and have gone through the document you sent to me. Apparently, mine is a model without the AFS. That probably explains why I don't have the AFS switch on my dashboard. I would need someone who understands RX330 headlight level system to sort it out for me. Do you know any in Abuja?

Thanks again for your time.
Re: Club-Lexus by Emperoh(m): 8:18pm On Mar 02, 2015
Mike,

I think i am in a bit of a fix. But not something out of the ordinary.

So per our argument last week, i gave Taiye and his oga Mathew my car to service. I already bought my 5w30 oil with filter and Toyota ATF IV. One more thing, i wanted them to change the plugs too.

Gave them the car at 2pm and he came back at past 5pm with the car, all done! Further probing reveals he did clean up my air filter and some servicing around the air filter hoses.

Well, the result; my idle speed is now 1000 rpm instead of 700. This has long term implications for my MPG and not also healthy for my car. I intend to send it back to him to rectify. If he doesn't i will have to go back to my normal auto medics. I just hope this is something i won't regret. Cos i might end up spending what i thought i was saving. Sad! undecided lipsrsealed angry sad

On another issue, I can see my P0430 is no longer showing. Will observe this and report back here.

I stay in Abuja, but I Don't know any mechanic who would do such because I maintain my car myself. However, your best bet is apo mechanic market go to lexus line and ask them for headlight specialist.

Since yours don't have AFS, your Auto leveling sensor is on the tailing arm of your rear passenger's right hand side suspension.

Those with AFS system have it on the right hand side front passenger suspension.
