Hello fellow Nigerian Undergraduates and other Nairaland users.
This is the planning thread for the forthcoming NAIRALAND INTERSCHOOL DEBATE.
Are you new to online debates? This is not the first one on Nairaland, you can check for the just concluded NAIRALAND ANNUAL EDUCATION DEBATE where ALICIAKEYS emerged as the winner among other participants.
Special thanks to the organisers, participants and the audience who made it a huge success. God bless you all

THE INTERSCHOOL DEBATE
This debate is for all schools in Nigeria, mainly universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. Each school will be represented by their students here on Nairaland
PLEASE NOTE:
The debate is a competition to challenge our abilities and develop our intellectual capacities. It is for all to learn and not for strifing or sentimental bias.

The debate will start from the group stage, where all participating schools will be classified into different groups.
For example
GROUP A
UNIZIK
AAU
UI
EKSU

GROUP B
OOU
FUTA
FUTO
UNILAG
et cetera

The debate will be in pairs just like a football match, date and time for the debate will be fixed and it will be properly announced. E.g
OOU VS FUTA January 15 2014 12noon

EKSU VS UNIZIK January 15 2014 2pm

The debate between the school paired will be the same day. At the end the two winners will qualify for the next phase
Competition will be in phases (Depending on the number of participating schools)
E.g

Round 16
Quarter Final
Semi Final

If I may suggest, let the least number of representatives be 5 and above. That is to ensure the continuity of the debate. If you watch last debate, some pulled out after making up the Contestants' list, and only the regulars here saw it through all the way.
@Finest.. What says you about that pm?

Re: Nairaland Interschool Debate. :::Planning Thread by damoskiy(m): 2:23pm On Oct 31, 2013
I suggested some topics on the previous thread...I think to make the debate better organised all schools represented should have a chat room where they would discuss, meet and come up with some reasonable topics which is still subject to final approval from the judges. With that the debate would be better organised apart from that all schools should come up with atleast 5 representative
1. 1 person Would serve as the p.r.o . of the school on the thread he / she would be in charge of posting their debates throughout the competition.
2. 2 or more persons would compile the debate on the topic.
3. 2 people would edit their debate from grammatical errors and punctuation.

That's all I can think about for now...

. The topics I suggested are all above could suggest more...
1. Which way forward with Corruption in Nigeria.
2. University students should be allowed to choose their topic for final year project.
3. Impact of Agriculture on Nigeria
4. Fish farming in Nigeria the prospects
5. Should movies rated above 18 be allowed to be shown in the cinemas

My head is heavy...can think of more topics for now...see what ASUU has caused me...
