Mercedes benz place may be your best bet.

I believe you are referring to the electronic key? I was told it costs about 60k.

Your best bet is Mercedes benz place in Lagos, they will require your vin number, proof of ownership certificate, vehicle license, drivers license or int. passport of the owner of the vehicle and if you are not the one to handle it you will send a letter of authorization with the persons ID. I am not sure about the cost for a 1998 model but for my 2008 C300 it cost some amount of money.
