This is wholesome and wonderful compilation and a great effort. A name should 'talk' to inspire the bearer and possibly link or hint on destiny. Thanks for the beautiful effort. God will project your name in all ramifications too. So shall it be. Amen.

I also checked the meaning of the name "Cecelia" and it means "WAY for the blind". And not JUST "blind" as you want us to believe. So basically, I am your Cecelia.

With Claudia...hmm... shocked

You that Yoruba boy or girl that when people ask for your name and all what you tell them is I don't know the meaning. Oya check the meaning of your name now and memorize it. No more excuse. And people of other tribes, give your Yoruba friend a surprise by telling them the meaning of their indigenous name. This is one of the good things about Nairaland

Nice compilation @OP

Good compilation. But of a serious note, how many of these names are being used these days?? We all do concentrate on a few while the others are left behind. Names like OBI which I haven't heard any yoruba man answering before have all been left to weed away.

Lets imbibe that culture of answering our father's given name irrespective of the English one we adopt.

Like me, I bear Jonathan Charles but still I prefer being called CHIBUEZE meaning " God is king" in my language.

God bless ya all.
