Chime Attempts To Eject Wife From State House "Detention" by wales(m): 2:11am On Nov 11, 2013
Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State today attempted to eject his wife, Clara Chime, from her State House quarters over her decision to go public about his illegal detention of her.

In effect, Mrs. Chime would have regained the freedom she has been denied for months, and for which she has campaigned publicly in the past week.

The governor’s action followed a marathon meeting the governor held with Clara’s Igwe family, during which the governor decided to let her leave the government house.

However, insiders say Mrs. Chime said she would prefer to travel out, preferably to the United Kingdom, to take care of herself and then be allowed to return to her matrimonial home upon completion of her trip.

Sources at the meeting said the governor turned down that offer, instead telling the First Lady to pack out immediately.

Security sources said that her refusal to leave immediately led to an attempt to forcefully eject her from the government house.

Following Mrs. Chime’s refusal to leave unceremoniously, the governor relented and called for another emergency meeting of the family. The meeting was still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.

On Friday, Governor Chime met with a delegation from the National Human Rights Commission for several hours to explain the reason for the confinement of the First Lady to a section of Government House.

Mrs. Chime's public outcry was first reported by SaharaReporters last week. In a letter, she complained she had been confined within Government House and had suffered depression. She subsequently also disclosed the harsh circumstances of her detention, including being threatened by the governor whenever she asked permission to leave.

You should always marry in a place where you will be treated like a human being and much better than what you are currently facing now. If for some reason, you lose your life now be sure no one will even worry much as the Chime bagger marries another woman! A woman is not supposed to be sold as a property due to a high bride price, but your partner!

So she wants freedom? She got it. Why is she refusing to leave? She want to have her cake and eat it.
How many people will allow their relatives suffering from mental health challenges to roam the streets? How many rich persons have their relations in a mental home in Nigeria? Instead of putting her in a home where the inmates are treated worse than eku-uke dogs and where people like Sahara reporters will go with their cameras to take her pictures and taunt the governor, is it not better he set her up at home with a full battery of doctors?
The same people criticising Chime for unlawful imprisonment today, would be the first to say that he has used the wife for one ritual or the other and abandoned her in an asylum.
The man has done the best in the situation and handled it well. Since his best is not enough, he should let her go to avoid the unnecessary bad press and distraction she is generating.

Don't get it twisted dude. She had a nervous break down. Once! Google it to see what it means. It doesn't make her mad! It doesn't make her insane to be detained in an asylum. All she needs is a psychotherapist to help her with her intense depression. The confinement is only making her matter worse..

People seem not to think of what caused the nervous break down in the first place. Was her life so smooth sailing and she woke up one good morning and had a nervous breakdown? This Man shagged her younger sister so much so that it resulted in pregnancy which she kept! This man is a notorious womanizer that sleeps around that he's known around the Enugu circuit as 'picanto'. He keeps an apartment that she doesn't go to . This man isn't even discreet in his womanizing habit. Is all this not enough to make someone have a nervous breakdown?

He told her to leave and he expects her to leave like a wh.ore that came to spend the night? She isn't trash! She's his wife. If she has to leave the state house, she'll do it with dignity. All she wanted was her freedom to go around as she pleased. She never in anyway said she wanted to end the marriage. Till the marriage ends, she should still have all the perks that are supposed to be accorded her as a Governor's wife.

Na Waa for some comments above.

Mrs Chime, never allow that monster to cheat you for anything sake, maintain and fight for your dignity.

You are equal to him in that marriage and should never be discharged unceremoniously without formal filling of divorce and its attendant consequences.

Never forget your children, the heritage of your labour in love and future.

Mrs Chime, if you can hear me, fight for your dignity even if it leads to your death. That's the sacrifice you got to pay for the liberation of women in Nigeria and Africa at large.

frankly disgusting if this is the mentality of you women
you marry a powerful man, knowing full well he is a notorious womanizer then start to complain after the fact
you complain about being abused in a marriage, but still prefer a gilded cage to freedom
you cannot have it both ways - either leave and live as a normal nigerian, or suck it up and stop spamming the rest of nigeria
if she doesn't want to end the marriage, then she should shut up.

if the guy was a regular guy she would have left 'unceremoniously' long ago

You women never cease to amaze. You embarrassed your husband by running your stupid mouth in public and portraying him as a monster. For a man in his position, such bad PR is intolerable and unacceptable. The man tries to disabuse the minds of the public by addressing a press conference ATTENDED BY THE SO-CALLED WIFE AND HER FAMILY MEMBERS, wherein he stated the facts of the matter. Few days later, the insane woman cries out yet again that the Human Rights Commission lied against her, that she is indeed under detention against her wish.

The governor becomes irritated and FED UP with the whole nonsense, and decides to grant you the 'freedom' you crave (RIGHTLY SO), and yet you refuse to leave! Instead you're talking about leaving "ceremoniously", or worst of all, "enjoying the perks that are suposed to be attached to her as a governor's wife". You must be a lunatic! Must you greedy, confused things always have your cake and eat it too? Why do you thieves always assume you can have it both ways? This disgusting sense of entitlement beggars belief. Why did you marry the governor in the first place, knowing FULL WELL that he was a notorious womaniser who you would NEVER have to yourself? Did you marry him at gunpoint?

If I were Chime, I would have ejected her at all costs, and banished her from the government house permanently. Rubbish.

You are d one who got it all twisted. Read ur post n think again. This woman said she was unlawfully detained for sooo long. Falana claims he has written complaints fr her or whomever ascertaining her unlawful detention and maltreatment by the governor. The hitherto media recluse Chime was forced to admit d press n human rights commision into their home to investigate. He gave them unhindered access to her. They came to say dt d bone of contension was prolly in d choice of docs who shd treat her. Firstly, dis woman denied she didn't contact Falana. D next tin she was accusing d HRC for writting negative tins abt her health nhad brought her image to disrepute. Dis woman n her advisers shd hv known d import of wot they wr doing wen they involved sahara reporters a known agent of distabilization! Now, d "monster" husband has given her d access to fly around d world and b free n she is talking about her coming back to d same monster dt has maltreated her so badly! D Govs womanising traits wr full known to her b4 they got married. D gov met her during one of his philandering flights! She was a friend to chimes daughter. Her sister was impregnated by Chime and kept it. Dis womans family and upbringing leaves so much to b desired. She n her sister r obviously worse than d gov in terms of morality.
Falana shd hands off dis case as it is a purely family affair as cn now be seen. Falana shd go to d various prisons to save d hoardes of human rights denied inmates there and d inmates wl eternally be grateful. But wl falana do this? Not likely bcause it has not political reward!
I am fully in support that chime shd divorce this uncouth and lazy morally bankcrupt woman he calls wife!
And who told u she has to liv ceremoniously? If the man was a poor man, wd she wait to liv in a grand stlye?? Ans is NO! Mrs chime wanted freedom. Its her RIGHT to have it. She shd take it and go! D other legal aspects wl come later. But for now, they hv to painfully separate!

I pity lawyers who don't get facts before jumping to defend gullible clients. Falana should disassociate himself, career & self esteem from this woman.

What does this woman & her advisers think her relationship with the husband will look like after trying to run him down in d public?

Let's forget about governorship or status, nobody will tolerate such scandal to their personal image. The woman cried for freedom & she got it, then let her go on & enjoy it, she can later come back for other settlement and also her (un)ceremonious return.

I can feel what this man has passed through calling a press report to confirm to the world that his first lady is mentally unstable. This is a situation many people hide from public becos of the shame, stigma on the family & the effect it has on children especially the female one.

Let her family take her wherever they like or must Enugu state public purse be dried also after drying their governors image.

The way she was shouting, I thought she will even jump d fence if granted opprtunity to.

So the Governor is the saint in this story yeah? If you can't read between the lines, this publication is intended to mock her like some others have been doing lately. She is legally married to him. He can't in the spirit of trying to ridicule her tell her to pack out immediately. Like seriously? Did he have to say it? He could just send away her guards instead of barking such orders. If he did that and she didn't leave, then she's the fool. Really really look between the line and see what this all about. It's about power, ego and chauvinism.

She's being detained against her wish, she can't go and come in as she pleases or have people come visit her. She's lonely, she's sad, she's depressed. She loves her husband but he husband hasn't been to her bed for years. Despite the mockery she knew she might receive, despite the ridicule she knew was coming, she still stood her ground and cried out to the public. It doesn't make her greedy, it makes her brave.

My dear, money is nothing. This woman more than anyone is in a position to know this now (which is a lesson for the people who marry for money) but who says this woman married for money anyway. The man in question is sleek, handsome, charming with charisma. Good reasons for anyone to fall head over heels. He must have hidden his promiscuity from her.

Anyhoo, let's not be quick to judge this woman. She's been through enough as it is. Put yourself in her shoes and imagine what she must be going through. I wouldn't wish her condition on my enemy.
