The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), says it has not taken a categorical stand on Stephen Keshi heading Nigeria’s coaching crew to the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Nigeria’s sports minister, Bolaji Abdullahi last week announced that a “foreign technical assistant” will be drafted in to the Super Eagles backroom staff if Keshi makes such a request.

The NFF has now revealed that no decision has been reached in that regard as the federation was still in the process of appraising the performance of all the coaches under its employ.

“The minister (for Sport) has been like a father. He means well and I am sure his words are aimed at improving our national team even more. What he said was advisory and we are full of gratitude to him,” NFF’s technical committee chairman, Barrister Chris Green told supersport.com.

Green also revealed that the technical committee of the NFF would meet soon to reach a definite conclusion on the matter.

“Right now, we are still appraising what has been done so far and we have yet to come to any conclusion as to whether the team needs an assistant or not.

“However, all the coaches we have appointed for all our national teams have done very well in their various roles.

“However, we are always looking to improve and get to the very best level so as to favourably challenge the very best in the world,” he said.

NFF president, Alhaji Aminu Maigari also discussed the issue with supersport.com.

“I am impressed with Keshi and all the national team coaches but I cannot make unilateral decisions.

“The technical committee of the federation will meet and recommendations will then be ratified by the executive committee,” he said.

Tribunesport recalls that Frenchman Phillipe Troussier, Shuaibu Amodu took Nigeria through the qualifiers of France ‘98 and South-Korea-Japan 2002 respectively only to be replaced by Bora Milutinovic and Adegboye Onigbinde at the World Cup finals.

Amodu again lost his post to Swedish Lars Lagerback at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Without being told, we all ought to know that he won't be the one to lead us to Brazil. Have we forgotten what happened to Amodu Shaibu??

Ona (NFF) don start again abi? Alrite o ...we de watch grin. We know say we nor go fit win the World Cup (local or foreign coach) BUT we want Keshi to be there for the experience. No country has ever won the World Cup using a foreign coach hope they realize that.

If We must hire a foreigner,we better get Sir Alex Ferguson. In fairness to Keshi,he has done a good job so far but as a person I wasn't impressed with our confederation cup perfomance.Keshi should try and get players that can guarantee us at least a quarter final birth at the world cup. Ideye,Gambo,Babatunde should not be invited for camping.

They shouldn't even think of sacking our most successful coach since Westerhof. The problem with Africa is their use and dump attitude and instability. Who do they want to get? The success of a team depends on both the coach and the players and it takes years to build a formidable team. What if a new coach comes in and doesn't like Mikel, Onazi or Omeruo's style of play? What if he finds he can't work with Moses, how will he re-structure an invincible team within a space of 6 months or less? What if the players don't like the coach and decide to do as the French players did at the World Cup? Changing a coach isn't as easy as switching sim cards. In fact Keshi better get a ticket before greedy oafs like Maigari who have benefitted from the hard work of others.

Only fools will continue doing the same thing everytime and be expecting different result.

The same thing done in our previous outing at the world cup, still contemplating on repeating the same is an arrant nonsense.

Nigerian team have been on the winning run all these while except for the confederation cup we played.

Between now and june next year at the mundial, how many matches will be played to assemble nigerian players making the new technical adviser that will replace SK to understand the blending of the individual player's capabilities with each other forming a formidable team at the mundial?

The best thing is to leave SK to complete his work!

This is pure fraud and has nothing to do with football.

Somebody wants to hire a Foreigner, inflate their Salary and collect kick-back. We have seen this kind of fraud before. It is amazing that NFF that can not find money to pay Keshi's wages on time will find money to pay a foreign coach.

I call on President Jonathan to intervein in this issue and simply warn NFF and co not to alter what Keshi is building. enough of this drama and shame.

We all remember how Glenn Hoddle revealed that he was clearly told to request more than the amount he wanted for the job otherwise he will not get the job. Lars Lagerback was offered the job and even after Largerback perfromed woefully at the world cup they still offered him a 2 years extension but Largerback turned it down.

Let Presidency intervein and stop NFF from misbehaving. If FIFA prevent us from going to Brazil because of political intervention so be it, this nonsense has just got to stop!

We dont need Foreign Coach, Keshi must lead us to Brazil!!!!!!!!

follow the money trail and you will get nearer the truth, this has nothing to do with football. Some special interests are making this decision based on their personal bank balance.

Just ask youself how NFF that owes Keshi 7 months wages can pay a Foreign Coach? the reason is when they hire a foreign coach they collect kick-backs but when they hire a local coach they dip their hands in the local coaches wages to make money.

Trust me no one will hire alex fergurson or jose mourinho for you. The will go and hire Tom Saintfelt and those sort of people who are experts in defrauding African countries.

It only makes sense to allow the coach who led us to African glory and qualified us for world cup to lead us to World Cup. Stephen Keshi must lead us to world cup without any interference of any Foreign Coach. We dont need a foreign coach as support or as head coach. Let Keshi take us to world cup. Its that simple.

If Jonathan Goodluck makes sure this happens he will get my vote.
