Dude, it seems like you are obsessed with Lagos state ooo. This is the second thread you are opening on this alone.

but would you rather they spend billions on the building and you come back to scream "Financial misappropriation"?

kids and older people will have to use this stairs everytime, does that make sense to you? If you're going to pump billions to a project, make it worth it.. sad

Have you considered the financial impact of escalators? If the FG have fixed power supply, they wont worry about how to power them for example.

Besides why are you duplicating threads?

Is this a smear campaign seeing you don't have a change of pictures just the same ol' crap

The OP is mischievous

To start with, it's functional

Even the most beautiful train stations in the western world didn't start out looking as good as they look today

It can be upgraded in future but there's no question about its functionality

It's not the finest I've seen but nevertheless not the ugliest

iterator25: What happened to escalators?

There are several train stations in the UK with stairs with no options for escalators

Besides there are BRT lanes along the same route

Wait until the highly irresponsible and incredibly untrustworthy FG fixes power? Are you serious?

What's wrong with people these day?

Let's state governments take control of most things the FG is burdened with.....devolution of power and resources to the regions.

If Lagos is in charge of power generation and distribution...possibly the escalator would have been an option at this pioneering stage.

Most of the intra-city train stations in the UK for surface trains don't even look this good.

It looks alright IMO.

People forget that doing business in Nigeria is hell due to the failure of the FG to provide electricity. It is enough trouble and cost powering the stations it generators, there ill be a need for surround lights, electricity for displays, also lights might be needed on the tracks itself. All these cost loads of money since the national grid is not functioning well.

The Lagos state government try to make things around it and make their stuff work, people criticize them.

The excuse about children and senior citizens is not even genuine enough. We have pedestrian bridges which are very tall and these same people cling them everyday to cross the expressways

Very few Nigerians can have the large heart to commend govt effort not led by the party they have affiliation to....or not from their part of Nigeria.

Tribalism has eating deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian society.

You really have to see the civil structure physically......they are built to last generations.

My problem with the OP is his apparent bias by not acknowledging the tremendous good points of the project...but rather dwelling on the not so important issue of elevator absence....clearly that is mischievous.

You are the one missing the point. Would you advocate they put escalators on pedestrian bridges too cos of senior citizens and children?

How do you intend to power the escalators if they are installed?

What of the extra cost of purchasing and installing them?

If you are so concerned, when you want to climb those stairs, help any senior citizen you see. That's how to be a good citizen

The guy just want to be mischievous.....at the end of this thread, he would learn one or two things on how not to be mischievous on such issue of public importance

It is not even being mischievous, it is plain silly. The OP sounds educated enough and should know a thing or two about cost management

bruv, using the pedestrian as a reference point won't cut.

The traffic this station will have will be extremely greater than those of the pedestrian bridges.

Though as Nigerians, climbing that steps no go mean anything.it's the convenience and fare cost that matters most. grin

You don't seem to get the reference to the bridges.

The escalators will cost money to operate, the money will eventually go into the train fares which will make the prices go up.
Re: Updates: Lagos Light Rail (pics) by abes(m): 7:44am On Nov 26, 2013
Elevators can be used instead of escalators.

Yes i understand the full negative implications of deploying escalators. And i have absolute no qualms with this current design model with its attendant advantages . . .
