What Advice Do You Have For Nollywood Film makers?

Pls if you havn't got anything good to say, don't derail the thread.
I started this thread hoping dat our voices would be heard through one way or the other by Nollywood producers and film makers in general.

Even the bible said a prophet is not recognized in his own town. We Nigerians look down on Nollywood movies while people outside Nigeria appreciate Nigerian movies a lot. I remember in Bigbrother Africa, how some housemates were talkin about how obssessed they are with Nollywood movies & so on.

Nollywood movies aren't that bad but as we celebrate Nollywood at 20, let's talk about how to improve our industry rather than castigate our industry.
Pls only positive comments.
We're tired of hearing about the mistakes observed in Nollywood movies.
Which way forward?

I watch hollywood movies too&i won't deny dat hollywood spend a lot of money producing their movies but we shldn't compare Nollywood wit dem cos
1). Hollywood is far older than Nollywood&more advanced in technology cos they're lik d 1st world country while Nigeria is a 3rd world country.
2). They hav a lot of sponsors.Somone can decide. 2bring out $1 million or more 2invest in a movie.How much does Nollywood producers get 2mak their movies?
3). Their govt is fully involved in their entertainment industry unlik Nollywood where d govt doesn't c any need 2invest in d industry
4). They makes lots of gain frm their movies unlike Nollywood where these Alaba boys ar spoiling show 4Nollywood producers.

There're so many other reasons whch I can't think of right now but Nollywood ppl ar trying.

They have come a long way but still have a longer way to go.

1 they should become more original and bring out original stories, not ones copied from hollywood.

2. They shouldn't mass produce one storyline. Eg Izaga, ulaga both stories have same storyline.

3. If they can't get their stunts right they shouldn't bother. We will mange the film like that. What's with the fake blows, the banger-sounding gunshots etc

Evry movie industry hav their own flaws&mak mistakes.4ppl talkin abt how ghost drink tea&look left&right b4 crossin d road,pls go&watch hollywood movie called "passengers" starring Annie Hathaway.They were ghosts in dat movie but they were changin cloths&drivin cars,eating&so on.

For those sayin dat nollywood movies ar unrealistic;how real is it dat one man lik Jetli or Jackie Chain or Stephen Seagal or Arnold Swa-whateva;James Bond&d rest of those guys dat don't die in their movies; can kill 50-100 guys holdin AK47 wit their bare hands&al d other stunts they pull in hollywood movies?If its Nigerian movie,ppl wil complain.I don't even want 2talk abt d rubbish they're actin in dat walkin dead,vampire diaries,Game of throne&so many others.

Nollywood movies make better sense than other African movies&so many hollywood movies.

Nollywood movies ar even decent.C d Amount of nudity in American movies.Geeeez.

My folks abroad ar always askin me 2get them d latest Nollywood movies&send 2dem 2geda wit Nigerian musics.My cousin who married a Nigerian lady who grew up in USA said he has used Nigerian movies 2teach his wife Nigerian culture;dances;Native wears&so on.Now his wife is really diggin Nigerian movies.


Wot I want them 2improve on is:
Producers lik Tchidi Chikere shld stop using 5-6 actors 2produce movies upto part 6.A movie dat shld hav ended in part 2 if not dat they decided 2mak d movie 2b just 30mins,usin 10mins 2write names/introduce d cast.

They shld bring in professional make up artist.Not 9months later or 1yr later,a girl is stil wearin d same hair,make up&d likes of Tonto Dike,d same eyelashes

They shld breed new actresses&actors.I'm tired of seeing Mercy Johnson;Tonto Dike,Mike Ezuronye&d rest in evry movie.We want new actors&actresses.

They shld try&movemovie locations 2places lik Calabar,Uyo&other states outside Lagos,Abuja&Enugu so dat outsiders viewin our movies wil c som tourist zones.

They should stop making movies totally and focus on documentaries because all their movies suck.... nobody watches that cap they out out. at least nobody with any sense

They should merge together and make sensible movies worthy of giving Hollywood a run for their money.

I grew up watching Baba Sala and Hubert Ogunde's films
Their production are way older than that!
Why are these people attributing 20yrs to Nigerian film industry?

Improve on quality of scripts

use the latest technology

should stop producing films in a week or two

should limit the use of soothsayers and fetish aspects

participate in international film festival to gain exposure

learn the more sophistication from the Americans and others

produce more movies from African literary writers series

Improve more on creativity and Originality and stop repeating movies. They should stop producing a movie that has part 1-6,8 etc even when part 1 doesn't have up to 6scenes. Quit long advertisement,most times their advert last longer than the movie it's self,its boring. Movies are meant to entertain you and not the other way round.

They should pace themselves by going back to school to learn cinematography and movie making,

They should think and innovate.
they should not be in a hurry to make movies

They should explore and advance in technology.

honestly der is nothing wrong wit that.... If they can be able to make dem up to look lyk secondary school students den no probs... Dey do dat too in hollywood for example glee... Most of d star actors der are lyk 25 and above buh dey all acted lyk high school students... Buh u'll hardly guess der real age.... If dey can make it real it's cool... Buh der is nothing wrong in setting up auditions for potential and promising young actors and actresses for dos kinds of role
