My friend, I am not a signpost. I bricked my phone over 30 times trying this out. I dont want anyone to go through that. I will waste my bandwidth unless people are interested. Google is your friend, do the search yourself if you feel I am too slow. I posted about the already well tested 4.1 several days back and nobody has shown interest. I am not a guru. I just want to share at my own pace. It is not the link that is important but the work around.

If you have a PC, download Root with Restore by Bina4ry_v31.zip. On the dashboard, pick the option OLD. This assumes that your phone is properly connected to do this you must have installed the drivers. The easiest way to do this is to install SNAPPEA it will install the drivers if you are connected to the internet. Or you could install PDA Net 4.13. Go to SETTINGS > DEVELOPERS OPTIONs on your set and tick USB DEBUG. If no PC you can try FRAMAROOT just save it in your SD card install and follow the instructions. YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Do you need me to point the way to Xda or the other fora to you? Believe me if you go and download any Rom you will brick your phone.

Thanks. I need a stable network to do so. Be it noted that I will be uploading a 4.1 which I personally find better than both the 4.2.1 and the 4.2.2. The problem with the two is that for now one cannot load new applications other than the ones preinstalled.

UPDATE

There are actually custom jelly bean 4.1 and 4.2 roms specially cooked for the N7 by paulabdeel in collaboration with my humble self.

But my fear is that not every Tecno N7 out there will be able to enjoy these roms. The simple reason is; there are 2 variants of the Tecno N7. The 1st variants are those that have no factory defects, while the 2nd variants are those that have factory defects.

What is this defect?
This defect is manifested in the form of unresponsive function keys (option, home and back key). If these keys freezes up once in a while, as in u need to press them many times b4 they respond, then I am sorry to inform u that ur N7 is in the category of the defective ones. MINE ALSO FALLS INTO THIS CATEGORY OF DEFECTIVE TECNO N7s

Why won't these defective N7s be able to run these roms?
These roms will install on these N7s without any single error, they will boot up as well. After booting the real issue will start; the touch screen will start malfunctioning, touches will not be recognised and even if they are recognised, they wont hit the correct points. In summary the phone will begin to operate itself and becomes unusable/useless.

N7s without defects
The roms will install and run smoothly without errors. The roms will be available b4 this weekend, that is as soon as paulabdeel has been able to upload them.

Note: 4.1 will be released first. 4.2 is still undergoing testing!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE

Owing to the difficulties the Heroic paulabdeel is encountering while trying to upload the roms, the N7 modders crew have decided to piont you guys to the sources of the roms coupled with a comprehensive tutorial on how to go about the installation.

With the current twist of events, I want to quickly state here that we do not take credit for the work done because these are the source roms we actually ported from. But since we couldn't upload the cooked versions, you guys should just make do with the raw ones for the mean time.

Sorry for the delay and broken promises. The cooked and error free versions will be up in the near future.


It is also however pertinent to note that this legendary discovery was made by the Heroic paulabdeel. Pls direct all your appreciations to him

Well,I had a freak attack on my Laptop, inexplicable, and lost all my working papers; about 30GB. I had to start all over as it were.My desktop had all my work directories. The attack cleared my download folder, documents folder and everything on the desktop except the Recycle Bin. I have been using the 4.2.2 for about two weeks. I am a responsible man of over 50 years and I do not have time to trade words with people. I set out to do this for myself and I have only tried to share. BTW do you need a link when you can Google? I have done my bit rekeson will finish the job which he actually started.I will post screenshots and close this thread. Thank you.

I am posting three screenshots.the first is lockscreen. The second one is from my Titanium backup. This is the best way to authenticate the version of an OS. I downloaded many ROMs advertized to be what they were not. In this screenshot, the system apps are clearly shown to be 4.2.2. And check the time, I took the screenshots after my last post. The third one speaks for itself.
