1985, IBB was the president of Nigeria and our teachers told us that Buhari was the former Head of state. Our teacher also called us "the leaders of tomorrow" 27 years later, IBB and Buhari are still contesting for Presidency. Its either our teacher lied to us about being the leaders of tomorrow. Or tomorrow is yet to come. Who's fooling who? In 1983, Bamanga Tukur was the Governor of the defunct Gongola State (now Adamawa & Taraba) and 30 years later, he is today the Chairman of the ruling Party, The PDP; Dr. Bello Halliru was commissioner in the Old Sokoto State (now Sokoto, Kebbi & Zamfara) and 33 years after he is today Minister of Defence; Major General David Mark(rtd) was the military governor of Niger State in 1984 and 28years later he is today the Senate President; Gov. Murtala Nyako was the governor of Niger State in 1976 and 36years later he is today the Governor of Adamawa State; Ogbonnaya Onu was governor of Abia State in 1992 and 20years after he is today the National Chairman of ANPP; Gov. David Jonah Jang was the governor of Benue State in 1985 and 27years after he is today the governor of plateau state; and Martins Elechi the Ebonyi State Governor is over 80 years old! Only in Nigeria is this possible, where the youth of today have no hope into the future! From strike in health sector, to the labour, to judiciary, to Education and today our students are home lavishing! Let Nigerian youth come to an alliance and fight for the unborn. We can't continue like this. Pass it to everyone if you believe in the NIGERIA DREAM. Let’s tell them ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! 4 Likes |

EloquentMedia: it is YOU Madiba is disappointed at. If you still cheat in the exam, and pass exam by sorting-it's a clear sign that you will cheat in election, and embezzle public funds. it is YOU that is painting us black let us as youths change our ways, embrace godly values and shun the get rich quick syndrome and collectively we will get to the promised land in our generation. I like this post bt the fact still remains I won't miss golden opportunity to move foward wit my life cos I was or will be disappointed.. Madiba shud come and swear he never bend the rule once in his life to achieve a feat |

To build a country that we will be proud of,we must first believe in the country.Americans do,so does Britain and other developed countries. For us christians,we believe in a country and a city not built with human hands and dexterity, where the lights never go out for Jehovah Himself will be our eternal light and the perfection of our satisfaction.Jesus is the Saviour of the world |

hollandis: A typical nigerian mentality.Always trying to blame our problems on another. The man was against the leadership of this country and not her people. He fought for the citizenry even when those who were being oppressed refused to do anything to help themselves. Was he the one who kick-started corruption and other vices in Nigeria? You better stop spewing tr@sh and just point ur finger in the right direction! 4 Likes |

funky medina: Food for thought..Come to think of it, the same old politicians 30 years ago, are still the same persons dragging away 1/3 of the nations resources to themselves and yet no one has done anything to correct this abnormally. It has even become a norm; laws are set to justify and legalise these feats, but look at , this is the height of corruption in the land Where are we leading to where 3/4 of our budget are on recurrent expenditure and just 1/4 on capital expenditure? Where are we leading to when the gains of Abacha loots and the likes of it cannot be use to solve one or two peculiar problem's' in the land but shared among the various arms of government as bonuses meant to be spent? Who is going to be brave enough to correct such abnormallies that has even been accepted as normal? 3 Likes |

I bet if Mandela had to see someone like you he would have strangled u to death. All said, there is still thus one question that bellows in my mind, What can we do? 1. Is it for us to vote who we think is the right person? WE THOUGHT WE WERE VOTING THE RIGHT PERSON IN 2011 2. If it is to protest or create a movement group. IT WORKED IN 2012 (SUBSIDY NEW-YEAR PACKAGE), BUT THIS IS MORE SENSITIVE COULD BE BLOODY, SO WHO WANTS TO SACRIFICE HIS/HER LIFE(PERSONALLY, I STILL HAVE PHOBIA FOR PRISON) BOTTOM LINE: What do we do? because those people at the helm of affairs don't see it this way. |

With the present crop of politicians I have seen across all the political parties in this country, I cannot see any positive change because at the back of EVERY Nigerian politician, corruption is the first thought in their mind as they have to get involved in corruption to pay off their indebtedness to their political godfathers of their respective parties who brought them to the office. They get involved in all fetish practices to get to power. Only when all youths with conscience come together to wrestle power from these old politicians who recycle themselves and their immediate families in the corridors of power. |

Until Nigerians become angry and demand accountability, we may just continue to make progress in trickles. We need thorough and proven leaders. If Sanusi Lamido Sanusi can dump his brand of fundamental islamism,, I would have asked for such a leader. PDP has the likes of Akinwunmi (Agric Minister), Amaechi (with proven results in Rivers) but they will never sponsor those ones for leadership. They always go for the weak, the corrupt and the incompetent! Maybe they will soon make Okupe a minister! We must demand truth and justice. Look at Thailand, at Ukraine. They wont take nonsense, but Nigerians will line up behind corrupt people just to have a share of the loot! There are so many celebrated rich Nigerians who have really done nothing other than share our oil wells, and loot our commonwealth. Until the people demand for change. Until then! 1 Like |
