From the early days of democracy in ancient Greece, speech making has been the most important tool in the arsenal of a politician. Socrates, Cicero, Elizabeth 1. Mandela, Awolowo, Zik, Sadaurna, Winston Churchill, Che, Obama..............the list is endless. Jonathan is in the FBN Stadium in South Africa with his entourage. I hope he listened to the Obama speech. It wasn't talking at people. It was talking to them. And there was a definite structure to it, and the delivery was spot on - a result of constant practice.
