otokx: GEJ has nothing to do with the Judiciary, there are 3 arms of government in Nigeria.

Go back to pre-school, if OBJ who was a democratic president himself can accuse jona of influencing Al Mustapha's case, then you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that the excutive arm of government influences the judiciary!!

What concerns Goodluck Jonathan with a judgement of the Supreme Court?
it is what concerns h8m with almustapha's judgement that concerns him with this.

This is the season of quashing and clearing.

The report did not mention the quashing of Alamieyeseigha's conviction. Never in the annals of Nigeria's democracy have more convictions been quashed and individuals cleared than now.

More and more convictions are being quashed and cleared under the corruption-friendly administration of the Chief Quasher himself, Conviction Clearer Quashluck JonaClear.

Nigeria may be on the brink of being quashed and cleared!

pro01: Some of you are hopelessly daft. Can you establish that the president influenced the SUPREME COURT judgment? If not, then why drag his name into the matter?

At least we had proof that the disgraced Justhief Salami, former President of the Appeal Court, was influenced by Tinubu to facilitate favourable rulings for ACN in Osun and Ekiti (thanks to MTN call logs). Is there any evidence that Goodluck Jonathan was in touch with the Supreme Court justices prior to this judgment?
Shut the phuck off; Justice Salami was exonerated of all the charges. Salami was victimized because the then CJN Katsina-Alu wanted him to set aside Judgement against the Sokoto state governorship election. He was meant to be reinstated after the NJC couldn't find him guilty of any offense but your Slow-poke Jona-daft wouldn't let that be. May God punish U̶̲̥̅̊ all IJN. Amen!!!

Sincere 9gerian: Those were some of the cases that were taken to court in the midst of the MEDIA DRAMA and PLAYING TO THE GALLERY that went into the 'war' against corruption during OBJ and Yar Adua era. As expected, Nigerians, being DRAMA loving people, cheered on while the DRAMA lasted. However, after the DRAMA and PLAYING TO THE GALLERY, many of those cases could not stand judicial scrutiny.

As for the case of Bode George, the Nigerian people have LOST again. The time, energy and resources that went into prosecuting him are all LOST. He may even sue the state for damages and may end up with billions or millions awarded to him in compensation. And all those shenanigans happened in the name of 'fighting' corruption?

Likewise, in the midst of DRAMA and media fanfare, the OBJ govt slammed charges of corruption against former senate president, Adolphus Wabara; former education minister, Prof. Fabian Osuji and former health minister, Nike Grange.

However, after much DRAMA and dancing in the media the Appeal Court made the following statements while freeing the duo of Adolphus Wabara and Prof. Fabian Osuji of allegations of corruption:

"the charge was BOGUS and failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused persons.... the prosecution failed to attach the list of witnesses and other relevant documents to the charge as required by law....the criminal charge was FRIVOLUS, BASELESS and had no merit and as such could not be sustained"
http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2010/06/02/n50-million-scam-court-frees-wabara-osuji-abdulazeez/

Meanwhile, the Growth Enhancement Scheme (GES) in the fertilizer distribution system instituted by the current govt saved the nation about N25 billion in 2012. The N25 billion would have been lost to corruption if we had continued with the old system of distributing fertilizer. The Integrated Payroll Systeme has also saved the country over N120 billion per annum thru eradication of ghost workers.

Some Boko Haram and pension thieves suspects have been prosecuted and convicted SUCCESSFULLY. Many others, including fuel subsidy thieves are still in court.

It must be noted that many of the cases of corruption that are being prosecuted under this dispensation are the outcome of SILENT double layer investigation. The fuel subsidy thieves for instance were first investigated by a presidential committee on fuel subsidy (which consisted of experts in that field) and later by the EFCC before proceeding to court. This increases the chances of securing conviction in court.

Nigerians would have to choose between DRAMA/PLAYING TO THE GALLERY and real fight against corrupt that yields TANGIBLE BENEFITS.
sir, so what you are saying in essence is that we should not bother arresting and prosecuting theives since the Nigerian courts will set them free anyway, It sound very unwise, fake statistics of 25b being saved is a drop in the ocean compared to what is being stolen in other departments and agencies of govt. The fact that a whole president of d federal republic pardoned a convicted thieve doesn't change the fact that he is a thieve common criminal. A time will come that all this thieves including Gej will be brought to book.! Its us against the corrupt president Gej.

I steal billions with a pen.. Depending on the publicity, I get a few months of V.I.P jail time, If I'm lucky like Cecilia Ibru, I will serve my jail time in the comfort of my house. And after a while, I get pardoned or the same courts that sentenced me will overturn their own ruling..

The problem is that you do not understand how the society works.

If you know the meaning of "meeting-before-the-meeting", you would never have asked the above question.

In Nigeria particularly, what you see and hear is not usually what it is.

U should be smart enough to decipher my idioms...I hope.

Desola: How can anyone keep a straight face when saying that the organs of the state practises separation of power?

Those claiming that the state Judiciary is 'independent' say so because it's convenient.

The Senate is 'independent' but we have seen the way they have handled Stella Oduah's saga.

This same people say that Obasanjo rigged elections even though INEC under Obasanjo was 'independent'.

This same people say that Jonathan permits free and fair elections even though INEC under Jonathan is still 'independent'.

A court also declared that the House of Reps cannot take over the functions of the Rivers State House of Assembly. As soon as the 'independent' court's judgement was delivered, an 'independent' Police Force, shooting tear gas and live bullets, prevented pro-Amaechi lawmakers from reconvening but sneaked in the anti-Amaechi lawmakers. That is also another manifestation of 'independence'.

In other words, being 'independent' depends on who is using it.

On paper, the three arms in 'independent' but those who know the practical workings in the corridors of power (like Obasanjo who also accused Jonathan of the same thing) know that it's all a charade.

evidence was flawed and inconclusive
but i guess the case was politically
influenced in Lagos then.

You obviously haven't overcome your military rule hangover. Maybe you need a bucketload of Alabukun.

Assuming that Jonathan's administration is indeed a "regime", sober people would know that he does not control the Judiciary as would have been the case in a military REGIME. Indeed, Obasanjo's 'civilian' administration was the closest thing to a military regime this country has ever seen. Don't you agree?
