Often times I see people compile a list of best or top selling phones in Nigeria and when you look at the list you will see that they are all smartphones like iPhone, Blackberry, Samsung etc, I want to state here that such lists are absolutely rubbish, in a country where an average citizen lives below $2 a day, how can smartphones of over $200 be the top selling phones?

If you want to compile a list of top selling phones in Nigeria, then you should be talking about those low end phones that cost less than $40, usually the cheap Nokia phones, Tecno phones and China phones in the market not the high end smartphones used by few people relative to the population of phone users in Nigeria.

So let me ask, who will make your list of "Top selling smartphone brands in Nigeria 2013"? For me i think brands like the following definitely deserves a place on such list;

1. Samsung
2. Tecno
3. Nokia
4. Blackberry
5. iPhone

Remember i am talking of top selling smartphone brands not just top selling phones in Nigeria in 2013.

If the list is in the order of their sales, then it will be in this order :
Tecno
Blackberry
Samsung
Nokia
IPhone

Tecno may have sold more phones than any other smartphone brand in Nigeria this year. Do you really think Blackberry sold more phone than Samsung this year?

Average Samsung is more expensive than a blackberry Of the same category.
Therefore, blackberry may have sold more phones.

I am actually looking at this year's current rate of sale, not how many of a brand's product may have been sold in the past.
