I would like to invite posters to display their knowledge of the Islamic holy book here by quoting their favorite passages of the ko-ran under the following heading;

1) The most poetically subtle
2) The most intellectually challenging
3) The most scientifically prescient
4) The most love-inspiring
5) The most cruel, violent, barbaric and inhuman.

So guys display your knowledge of the great book.

Quran knowledge is not meant for show off. There is a thread for "favorite ayah/surah"

But of course, you didn't know that.

What exactly is your purpose with this topic?

That said, I shall amend the text, deleting the word "show-off".

The purpose is to make the full-depth and breadth of the koran available to everyone. Is there a problem with that?

We do not have your list of (5), above in the Qur'an. Death could be humane in many instances. Killing may be humane, and not barbaric nor violent, or cruel, in many instances and conditions.

When you read the Qur'an, it says one should deal with others with justice, mercy, etc. When a vile person is killed so that evil is not spread in the society, that qualifies for justice and or mercy, on every one.

However if you are the type who is extreme in your liberal concept, not knowing the boundary, then I will not be surprised to know that you will not care to stop a person who is intent on doing a greater evil on the community, like killing s many people, men and women, young and old, unjustifiable, even if you hav to kill him!

I on the other hand, along with the majority of mankind regardless of religious affiliation see the need to eliminate the hardened evildoers from the community, even if they have to be killed while they are in the mist of their evil doings.

And most knowledgeable muslim will not accept the title the label when you call them so. They will not call themselves knowledgeable, either. Its looked at as a means of arrogance. Islam abhor arrogance and arrogant people.
