Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State and the National Chairman, Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, said on Thursday thatEkiti State under Governor Kayode Fayemi failed to reach its full potential as a result of lack of experience of the current governor and his predecessors in the state. The duo spoke in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, during the formal acceptance of the House of Representatives member and governorship aspirant of the LP, Opeyemi Bamidele, into the party. Mimiko, in his address on the occasion, urged the people of Ekiti State never again to allow inexperienced politicians to rule the state. Mimiko, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Kola Ademujimi, and three state Commissioners, said, “Experience they say, is the best teacher. Everything is working in Ondo State because of the experience I had over the years . “I had served as Commissioner in the Old Ondo State. I served as Federal Minister before I was elected the Governor. So, Opeyemi Bamidele had served as Commissioner for eight years in Lagos State and had acquired the experiences that would liberate Ekiti from the pangs of backwardness,” he said. Bamidele, who promised to work harmoniously with all stakeholders in the state if voted in as governor, said his government would not despise or treat any leader or Ekiti indigenes with disdain. A real Ekiti man will never vote MOB, go and check you will only see youths that has no future following MOB, quote me anywhere because I leave in Ikole-Ekiti and I no what is going on but most of MOB supporters are after his money and MOB knows how to splash money on politics. Those following him are just after his money, well JKF as really make me proud of Ekiti state in terms of infrastructure, Ikogosi, Ire burnt bricks, good and accessible roads, education, health etc though no one is perfect and humans are insatiable. |

Ekiti state has experienced dramatic changes in term of provision of basic amenities which have positive impacts on the masses since the assumption of Dr Kayode Fayemi as the Governor of the state. Fayemi is an outstanding governor, and he has tried his best particularly in trying to deliver dividends of democracy but he may lose because Ekiti is a politically volatile ground. No governor has had a second term since the creation of the state and the inception of democracy. Also the issues he had with civil servants could be politicised and used against him. As an Ekiti man I wish him well but the vitriolic outbursts of the average Ekiti man will definitely be targeted at the governor. He has constructed more roads than previous administrations and made significant strides too. However his weaknesses will be exploited, funny enough the plot to draw M.O.B out of A.C.N is about a year old this season if you ask around. |
