"Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. " (John 15:3).<< ye are clean through the word, he baptized his disciples with the word, he taught them the scriptures. The word cleanses you and not literal water.

"That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word," (Ephesians 5:26). << by the word?

"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word." (Psalm 119:9). <<<thats how you wash, with the word, thats how you are baptised.

"The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:" (1 Peter 3:21). <<<baptism also save us, not putting away the filth of the flesh, [dipping people into water/ watching your skin,] but the answer of a good conscience towards God which only the word can provide.

"Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good." (Romans 7:12). << the word is what brings you good conscience to God, water profiteth nothing so does the flesh, it is the spirit that quickeneth, and how do you quicken the spirit? By listening to the word.

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. " (John 6:63). << dipping yourself in water in and out profiteth nothing, the word is the spirit, water baptism has nothing to do with your salvation.
