If you open the hearts of virtually most top succeessful business and politician people in this country, you will be amazed at lots of bitterness caused by Obasanjo during his reign of power.

Among them is Africa’s telecoms giants, Dr. Mike Adenuga, the businessman who expressed his shock when the former President Olusegun Obasanjo categorically demanded the sum of N250 million, an equivalent of £1 million, from him as a donation towards the Presidential Library Project of the ex-President.

The 682-page biography, titled Mike Adenuga: Africa’s Business Guru and authored by the duo of distinguished journalists, Mike Awoyinfa and Dimgba Igwe, further revealed Obasanjo’s vindictiveness, and the humiliation suffered by Adenuga in the hands of the ex-President when the business titan embarked on a spirited-effort for the procurement of the license for his telecommunications business’ operation. “Okay, I would show you that I am playing God and kuku (ultimately) destroy you once and for all” said Obasanjo; a threat to which the frightened and weather beaten Adenuga replied with his knees crawling on the floors in Aso Rock and his palms stretched full length in the charged, steamy atmosphere: “Sir, I am your son. Please don’t be angry with me.” Obasanjo: “I shouldn’t be angry? Why shouldn’t I be angry? See you now. You would come and prostrate and when you leave here, tomorrow, you would go and be publishing your adverts, abusing me. No be so (Is that not true)?”

"It was revealed that MIKE paid N20 billion twice as charge for the licence to his proposed telecommunication business in Nigeria. There was much insinuations and speculations that MIKE was fronting for IBB during the licensing processing period. OBJ accepted the first payment but denied them the approval.
OBJ thought IBB was the original owner of GLOBAL and bent on denying him the license. MIKE sent Atiku to solicit in his behalf but OBJ molested him in his Aso Villa. Eventually, after lots of convictions, OBJ demanded for another N20B fee which he paid. Later, when he succeeded in the business, Chief Obasanjo has gut to demand N250M as donation for his presidential Library project..."

Meanwhile, Adenuga portrayed himself as an economic player with a sense of business brutality. This much he alludes to when he asserts in the book that “running a business is similar to leading a military operation or orchestrating a political campaign, or performing as a great athlete. The fundamental principles are the same. The overriding objective is to out-manoeuvre the opposing forces; to outsmart the other party; to outperform competition; to outwit the other guy-to achieve. This may sound harsh. But that’s the way it is.”

There is a copy of TAPS right here in my shelve, and I dare say, I am an adept reader of memo from all past Presidents of most countries and Nigeria to learn about the intrigues of power play and the reasons for decision points that ultimately steer the direction of countries and define collective destinies of a people. TARS was written by the author at a stage in life that he wasnt favorably disposed of his former contemporaries, emotions somehow gave way to his personal psychology which redefine how the book was penned.

Please read the Biography Mike Adenuga before you speculate about this. It was a clear and direct torture on the man, OBJ purposely wanted to ground Mike, he made it very vocal. Even when Mike went to the Library launch, OBJ sent someone to meet him and ask how much he is coming with, Mike's answer to the person was "How much do you think ?", the emissory said, he needs to ask Baba. Guess what ? OBJ said, if he is not donating 250 million Naira, he should not come in. Mike, said.."I actually was thinking of that same amount". QED

He denied him Licence of what turns out to be "Bella-1", Mike's first Oil well after taking his money purposefully, OBJ was Petroleum Minister as well as President in his tenure, OBJ is a very good and very very bad man.

this is just a distraction, this is a stale news. Let us face the letter Baba wrote to GEJ, enough of this distraction. Nobody said Baba is a saint even Mandela said he is not a saint. GEJ should address all those allegation level against him and his govt.

Nigeria are such a gullible people, what we need is to demand accountability from our leader. With what we have we don't have business suffering out of plenty. Until we know how to demand what rightly belong to us our govt we never take us serious.

Personally I like OBJ although I know he is not a saint. He was a leader Nigeria needed at the time, if his downfall will set all the old brigade tumbling, am all for it. However, if his felling is isolated then we are in for a longer ride. Not sure GEJ has what is required to head a country like Nigeria. Its worrying that all the PDP cronies are decamping to APC.

Whats wrong with demanding money from Adenuga towards Presidential library for Obj?
Making profit is about cost/benefit and demand/supply. Adenuga is in business to penetrate consumer market and make profit. It will cost to get there. Some of the people that will get him there are politicians, and their service don't come free. Will you ask and get a free phone or free charge card from glo? If we want a society where politicians are completely or almost completely shorn of corruption then we should abandon democracy and go for socialism or communism. No democratic govt anywhere in the world would accomodate Adenuga's scale of success and market domination without some unregulated reward in its own benefit. Its the way you grease relationships and sustain your relevance.
