Gradual Transformation Of Nigerian Infrastructure; Focus On Roads by Abagworo(m): 10:14pm On Dec 27, 2013 |
Whether we like it or not Nigeria is changing gradually even though we might not have noticed. It is not about APC and PDP or Jonathan and Amaechi or Fashola and Akpabio but about Nigeria as a country. The standard of Roads in our cities are gradually being upgraded and is almost like a competition amongst States with a few exceptions. Open drainages are no longer celebrated and inter/intracity highways have sprung up outside Lagos and Abuja. This thread is about pictures displaying before and after. We all know how Abuja airport Road used to be ad how it is now. We all know there was no suspension bridge in Lagos before now. This is not a challenge but a celebration of Nigeria's gradual transformation. I will start with my Father's State of Imo. This is Orlu Road in Owerri as it was in 2011 and now 2013. 3 Likes

www.nairaland.com/attachments/1486402_28orlu_jpg7d9dc5a5a708edd39727e5ccd1650c8d This is good... nice to see the sidewalks, but they also need to start focusing on getting the sand off the road completely, for which they can easily hire road sweepers or use road sweeping trucks. Road markings and traffic signs such as Stop signs, Speed limit signs etc, must be a part of the road works, just like in the above picture of Abuja. 2 Likes |

Good thread. Subscribing..... I always hate it when I hear sm IGNORAMUSES say that Nigeria Roads, and even general Infrastructure, is not improving or even deteriorating (imagine that!), when d opposite is d case. The Rate may be 'slower' than most of us want to see and there surely is still continuous work that needs doing, YET improved/improving they have/are in d last few years... 4 Likes |

Have somebody seen the Ubolo Afor to Eha- Amufu Road. I heard it's a federal government road linking Enugu State and Ebonyi State. The road have been like that for the past 25 years. Bad is an understatement. 1 Like |

Why are state roads usually dusty and looks substandard unlike federal roads? Uyo,calabar, enugu, abuja and some parts of the north, are the only places with world-class roads. |
