The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar, is reportedly showcasing his achievements since he assumed office, as IGP. Sources say this is a campaign to solicit for his second term in office.
He has the backing of business mogul, Aliko Dangote, an insider with Jonathan, some members of the National Assembly, governors, especially those from the Niger Delta, South East, top politicians, ministers and advisers to the president and others that played the role of advertisers, campaign managers and solicitors to convince the president to reappoint him for a second term.
However, Abubakar during his first term as police chief confirmed his reputation as a nepotist tribalist. He shut out the Southern part of the country thus ensuring that the educationally disadvantaged Northern region has more top Officers in all spheres of our government services than highly educated Southern region. Today the imbalance in his appointments ensures there is no Igbo AIGin the police service.
Unbalanced favours
According to a Daily Sun report, the police chief is known in the service to nurse some good level of intolerance when it is about religion, though sociable.
An officer at the Force Headquarters stated that: “Shortly after his appointment and following the opposition over his alleged religious bent and difficulty in tolerating diverse views, especially in the Jos crisis, he sprang a surprise and surrounded himself with Christian officers to prove his critics wrong.  But those appointments did not last, as he has since replaced most of them with people of his ethnic and religious affinity.”
Biased AIG appointments
A good instance cited by the Newspaper report is the “appointment of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), where 10 of the 12 are from the North, and all Muslims, but one from Benue State, and a scanty two from the South-South and South-West and none from the South East. These appointments are said to be part of the strategy for the 2015 general elections. With the IG’s right hand men in states considered to be very strategic, the police would determine whom it would work for when the time comes,” our source confided.
Some of the prominent appointments include the AIG for Zone 12, Bauchi, Mohammed Gana, from Niger Sate, AIG Zone 1, Kano, Tambari Mohammed from Sokoto State, AIG Zone 5, Benin, Salisu Argungu Hamishu, from Kebbi State, AIG Zone 7, Abuja, Suleiman Abba, from Jigawa State and AIG Zone 9, Umuahia headed by Bala Nasarawa, from Kano State.
Others are AIG Zone 10, Sokoto, Sule Mamman, from Katsina State, AIG Zone 3, Yola, Mohammed J. Abubakar, from Kano State, AIG Zone 2, Lagos, Maman Tsafe, from Zamfara State where the IGP comes from, AIG Zone 11, Oshogbo, David Omojola, from Ekiti State, AIG Zone 4, Makurdi, Michael Zuokumor, from Bayelsa state,  AIG Zone 8, Lokoja, Christopher Dega, from Benue State and AIG Zone 6, Calabar, Jonathan Johnson, from Taraba State.
Police commissioners
State commissioners of police include Anambra. Usman Gwary, from Borno State, Imo, Musa Katsina Mohammed, from Katsina State, Enugu, Abubakar Mohammed from Nasarawa State, Kogi, Saidu Madawaki, from Kebbi State; Ebonyi, Maigari Dikko, from Katsina State and Kano , Musa Daura from Katsina State.
Others are Yobe, Sanusi Rufai, from Katsina State, Zamfara, Ahmed Ibrahim, from Kano State, Oyo, Mohammed Indabawa from Kano State, Bauchi, Muhammed Ladan, from Kano State, Kebbi, Sylvester Umeh, from Enugu State, Plateau, Christian Olakpe, from Delta State, Bayelsa, Hilary Okpara, from Imo State, Cross Rivers, A.K. Shodipe, from Lagos State, Kwara, Agboola Oshodi-Glover, from Lagos State, Taraba, Jubril O. Adeniji, from Lagos State, Adamawa, Godfrey Okeke, from Anambra State, Abia, Usman Abubakar, from Kebbi State, Osun, Dorothy Gimba, from Plateau State, Borno, Lawal Tanko, from Kaduna State, Nasarawa, Umaru Shehu, from Kebbi State, Lagos, Umaru Manko, from Niger State, Gombe, Kudu Nma, from Niger State, Sokoto, Shuaibu Gambo, from Niger State, Katsina, Hurdi Mohammed, from Jigawa State, Jigawa, Joel Theophilus, from Kogi State, Benue, Adams Audu, from Borno State, Ekiti, Sotonye Wakama, from Rivers State, Ogun, Ikemefuma Okoye, from Anambra State, Kaduna, Olufemi Adenaike, from Ogun State, Ondo, Patrick Dokumor, from Bayelsa State, Niger, Diseye’smum Nsirim, from Bayelsa State, Rivers, Mbu Joseph Mbu, from Cross Rivers State, Edo, Folusho Adebanjo, from Lagos State, Delta, Ikechukwu Aduba, from Anambra State, FCT, Olufemi Ogunbayode, from Ogun State.
From the list, Ebonyi and Abia states have no representation and all the states in the South South and South East except Bayelsa are headed by Muslims.
The DIGs are Suleiman Dauda Fakai, North West, Atiku Kafur, North West, Emmanuel Udeoji, South East, Peter Gana, North Central, Marvel Akpoyibo, South South, Abdulrahman Akano, North Central, Philemon Leha, North Central.
Real bias
Where Abubakar played the main bias role seems to be in the appointment of mobile police commanders. Of the 58 command units nationwide, 32 commanders are from the North, and but for three Christians, two from Kaduna and one from Niger, the rest are all Muslims. The three Southern geo-political zones have 26 to share among them. As almost all police commissioners in the Southern states are from the North, so it is with the Mopol commands.
A clear glimpse of it is the list we have here. From the North, the police have Mopol 26 Uyo, CSP Mohammed Dankwara, Mopol 14 Yola, Ahmed Garba, Mopol 29 Awka, Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, Mopol 4W, Damaturu, Musa Garba, Mopol 3 Enugu, Mamman Giwa, Mopol 21 Abuja, Ibrahim Sa’ad Muhammad, Mopol 44 FHQS Abuja, Ali Garba Sarbi, Mopol 48 Ahoada, Lawal Sani Mani, Mopol 1 Kaduna, Sagir Ismaila, Mopol 24 Aso Rock Abuja, Dantawaye Miller (a Christian from from Kaduuna State), Mopol 5 Benin Adejo Abdul (Kogi State) Mopol 8 Jos, Haliru Aliyu, Mopol 15 Ilorin, Sunday Audu Peter, another Christian from Kaduna State, Mopol 17 Akure, Yusuf Sani Doki, Mopol 40 Jalingo, A.M. Diri, Mopol 42 Gusau, Abubakar Argungu, Mopol 52 Chalawa Kano, Moses Gana (Christian from Niger State, Mopol 9 Kano, Muhammad Guri, Mopol 11 Calabar, Abdullahi Ibrahim, Mopol 55 Aba, Dankwano Wilson, Christian from Kaduna State, Mopol 7 Sokoto, Danlami Yusuf, Mopol 13 Makurdi, Yusuf Ibrahim, Mopol 25 Azumini, Tijani Albasu,  Mopol 4 Ibadan, Shuaibu Danaguni, Mopol 12 Minna, Yahaya Jega, Mopol 16 Abeokuta, Baba Lawan Audu, Mopol 22 Lagos, Abubakar Yakubu,  Mopol 27 Katsina, Abubakar Umar, Mopol 32 Abakaliki, Kabir Abdu Randawa, Mopol 34 Gombe, Garba Yaro, Mopol 35 Dutse, Nasiru Ahmed, Mopol 58 Lafia, Abubakar Garba.
Commenting on this lopsided appointments Dele Odugbemi stated:
"We shall discuss all the injustices and imbalances which are the major causes of insecurity, distrust and disharmony among Nigerian ethnic nationalities at National Conference.
How can educationally disadvantaged Northern region has more top Officers in all spheres of our government services than highly educated Southern region?
We should forget about religion and focus more on merits which i know the Southern region surpasses Northern region in all academic endeavours.
Nigeria should be re-structured on regional governments with full autonomy to all regions to control its resources and contribute same percentage to run Central Government that should have very small cabinet and responsibility to cater for National Police, Nigerian Armed Forces, Immigration Services, Customs Services and Central Bank.
Each region must establish its own Regional Police Service which will fully take charge of the security of the region while National Police will deal with high level corruption and other treasonable cases in the nation."

It is very sad that Nigerians of other ethnic groups feel more relaxed when obvious case of marginalization has been established,as long as its not favouring the Igbos or south-south!...where are all those who petitioned against Gen.Ihejirika,Stella Odua,Ngozi Okonja-Iweala,Deziani Madueke etc...National conference here we come.

I have stopped bothering myself with igbos ( although mostly on nairaland) they can be very disgusting. You know, as long as it doesn't affect a fellow igbo its none of my business. 2years ago, the nation embacked on a revolution, just for the ibos to tribalise the whole affair. Awolowo is very silly for allowing these people to remain in Nigeria. They are the most self righteous people ever. Take a look at Nigeria and her history. Up till now they defend stella odua the thief!

Nigeria is messed up!

This senseless reply is an example of what
i meant in my earlier post. Who in Nigeria cares about Enugu airport apart from you igbos? I bet no there person uses it or is employed there apart from fellow igbos.

Well that aside, how has the airport prevented stella odua from giving some eager airlines license to use the kano airport. Rather she told
them to use enugu or forget it. Dubai didnt, but the ethiopian airline did.

Anyway, carry go. 2015 is by tge corner. Its APC'S to lose. If they present the wromg candidates

With state police the nonsensical nepotism in the police force will end, the problem is that not everyone believe in the conference

In the last promotion exams for Police Sergeants to Inspectors, pass mark for Northern candidates was 23%. For Southern candidates, it was over 50%.

its quite shameful to realise that d same people who criticised LT.GEN ihejirika for appointing more igbos' into sensitive positions in the army really can't find their voices to criticise the action of the IG.

If it favours them, u wont hear their cries, if it doesn't, 'the igbos are planning to dominate the millitary like d case of 1966'. Let me keep record of this posts for posterity.

This is the kind of information i had been expecting Ndiigbo working in all these federal parastatals to be bringing to the fore through the media.

I am really impressed with this report,it shows that we are learning and learning fast. I was really pissed off with the useless Igbos working at the aviation industry who kept mute when FFK flooded the ministry with half baked Yoruba people.

Now that we have this info, all we need do is heat up the polity, put the f.ucking northener under pressure for failing to play by the rule of federal character they created. Five or more articles on the national newspapers about this everyday will do the trick, it's high time we start checkmating these Nigerians and their southern bed fellow.

most hausa folks have got a massive degree of ethnic and religious bias, far more than that of other tribes... sad but true.
as for me, federal character should be reduced to the minimum. qualification etc should come 1st not tribe.

But all I can see here is the marginalisation of the southwest! No Yoruba DIG only one AIG from south west yet no one is raising any issue from the southwest. The first ten positions in Nigeria has no Yoruba man yet no one is shouting marginalisation. I think igbos should try and learn one or two things from Yorubas. Rather than make noise Yorubas ve decided to go to the drawing board and re strategise on the way forward for 2015.

Orlando Olodo,

I remembered the tribally biased craps you vomited during a mere and unproven allegation against one Mrs. Uzoma that she has flooded Immigration services with Ndigbo. The regions that know for their tribal idiosyncrasy in Nigeria jumped onto the allegation like flies on a poo. Unfortunately, Mrs Uzoma was retired because she is Igbo and the unfounded allegations loudly came from Hausa, Fulani and Yoruba along with idiotic minorities in southern Nigeria.
