Mayor_of_Lagos: Why are they shooting the croc? Africans have no respect for animals and environment.
Where you expectin them 2call the police or animal control.
Or do you tink the croc was seen in the desert.

Really? Other humans are not even safe; ask the aborigines in Australia and America for details.

People can always afford to talk when they have never been in a situation. That is Nigerians for you. Most of these people here will run on siting a 1-foot viper, 5 foot cobra or even the last snake i saw in my compound(a 12ft foot python). Only the absence of a gun stopped me killing the python. Make una drop una number so i can contact you on siting another one..

Make una dey talk...

Yep. Some instances of cannibalism were recorded in America. I am sure there were also instances in Australia. And by the way, the bison population went from tens of millions to less than a thousand in the US and NOT because they were being killed for food; rather being killed for their skin!

Seriosly, there oughta be appropriate agencies to handle such cases n not just killing a stranded wildlife that had been safely cornered and not posing any present danger.

I share your sentiments, Pagan, but the KILL and EAT mentality will in the end leave Africa with no other living beings but hungry and desperate humans, who will then eat each other.

Even a country like India has proper WIlflife rescue agency and Forest Department Serice which functions just like any police department, fire department, etc.

In a densely populated city like Mumbai, which is larger in population than Lagos and Abuja combined, more dangerous animals like Leopards keep entering the city from the Wildife Santuaries , into the main city hub and the suburbs.

Yet not one has been killed. All have been referred to WIldlife Sanctuaries who then send a team to relocate it.

We here in Nigeria have so few animals. What is Africa without its animals?

The animals are the sacred spirit and soul of the land. They are the beloved of the Gods.

If we cant protect our animals, we have failed as a nation.

Your heart is in the right place, Pagan, but your voice will be drowned out by the KILL and EAT mentality that will ultimately exterminate all non-humanoid living things from Africa, after burning all her forests and poisoning all her rivers to sterility.

In other countries they provide sanctuaries for endangered species, at the rate that Nigerians kill wild animals 100 years from now none will be in existence, we do everything upside down. They only attack when you encroach on their territory, stop building houses in the middle of swamps there is plenty of land elsewhere in lagos.
if you cant respect an animals right to exist find somewhere else for it to live in peace.

In Burkina Faso they have crocodile sanctuaries that generate revenue for the country as tourist attractions, Nigerian leaders lack foresight and vision:

Check out these pics of different situations involving Leopards being relocated in Mumbai, the "industrial capital" of India:

And this done by co-work of both, local residents and forest officials. yet very few "if any" have been killed so far. and leopards are more dangerous than pythons or crocodiles :

Whatever the faults and shortcomings of the Indians, they certainly do respect animals.
