Moneymaker Name: Alhaji Waziri Aliyu Waziri
Age: 52 years
Nationality: Nigerian
Industry: Oil & gas, construction, Banking and Money laundering
Net worth: $28.8 billion
Chronicle:

Seeking to teach his grandson a memorable lesson at a point, Waziri’s grandfather offered to loan him some money to buy a consignment of beans for resale, knowing well that their prices were high at that time of the year and would come crashing down in months to come. He thought to show the young man the folly of being too trusting in others’ counsel. His grandson took his money quite alright but not his counsel, opting rather to buy his first batch of contraband textile which was in high demand at that time of year. He sold the goods after procuring them for more than four times the cost and made a killing on his profits as well as completely outwitting his grandfather. Back and forth, those two went with their mind games but the older man never could get the better of his young protégé whose natural cunning always seemed to an incredible degree of acuity, win the day for him. Nonetheless, whether by chance or by design, Waziri inspired by his grandfather’s prodding was a self-made millionaire by the time he turned twenty-one. Barely a decade later he would grow to become a billionaire and his booming empire, still very much integrated with his local economy, accounting for more than 30% GDP of his home state in Nigeria. The son borne by a concubine whom his father never married because she was deemed unworthy having come from a much lower social class, had become even richer than his father’s entire dynasty… and he was just warming up.
