President Jonathan has defected from the PDP to APC. In a statement released by his press secretary, President Jonathan expressed displeasure on how the activities of the PDP were being run. He further stated that the PDP has been hijacked by criminal elements who do not want the progress of Nigeria. While receiving President Jonathan to the party, the National Chairman of APC Bisi Akande described President Jonathan as the Nigerian Prodigal Son. Since he has seen the light and joined the progressive party all his sins have been forgiven. He described President Jonathan as a good man who is misunderstood by many due to his quiet nature. He further assured President Jonathan of the APC's desire to ensure he represents the party as its Presidential Candidate in line with the party's practice. He asserted that the party is fully behind President Jonathan and enjoined all members of the party to support him to make his 2015 victory a reality.
