what is up with nairaland.com and my .TK domain names? each time i enter a .TK domain name on this website, the ".TK" part of the website is removed, and the link is never complete! take a look

www.htmlonline.tk and i have to write it as www . htmlonline . tk

any ideas?

However how can I be your mentor that I am not familiarized with CCNA? I think you pick wrong mentor. I am just experienced web developer/designer with networking knowledge basically but computer proficient.

To get a site, must one buy a domain name? can't i just coin up some name and use it??
after that what next??

"coining up" a domain name is not as easy as you think it is. but there are loads of "coined up" domain names and all with different features. for example, i happen to use .TK alot and it actually free and works like a regular domain (fortunately, i got a good free host with PHP & MySQL giving me 100% free hosting + domain name!). there are also others that redirect, like .FR.FM, .CJB.NET, and many more.

i'd suggest you just pay for your own domain name. or use some of the unique "coined up" ones, like .NAME (eg. www.okiemute.omuta.name or .CO.CC) or better still, use .TK
