MOSSOB orders Ndigbo to stay at home August 28

JUSTIN OZUZU, Nnewi

Govement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has ordered Ndigbo to stay at home Thursday, August 28, 2008 in protest of injustices being inflicted on them by the Nigerian state.

Disclosing this in a press release signed by the regional administrator of the movement in Anambra state, Mrs. Virginia Ubazuonu, MASSOB said the stay-at-home order will last from 7 am to 4 pm same day.

MASSOB, in the statement, also warned Ndigbo to disregard policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria as they neither mean well for them, nor protect the interest of the Biafran people.

They therefore called on the international community to arrest and prosecute the immediate past president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, for the massive killing of its members in various parts of the country during his regime, as well as the killing of the people of Odi, which according to MASSOB, was an act of genocide.

Mrs. Ubazuonu, who reiterated that MASSOB considers the struggle for Biafra a matter of life and death, insisted that the destiny of Ndigbo and that of their children are tied to the struggle, which she said, is responsible for the high level of resistance against all temptations to compromise their position, adding that this is also why virtually all the members of the movement being detained, are still being tried with treasonable felony even when others from different groups with similar cause have been freed long ago.

MASSOB, in the statement, lamented that the federal government presently, through some Igbo politicians, is using some expelled members of the movement to create the impression that there is crisis in the organization, pointing out that the plot is a mere storm in a tea cup, adding that the struggle for Biafra is unstoppable.

The statement also revealed that the movement recently engaged a team of international lobbyists to facilitate the quick realization of Biafra, noting that the stay-at-home order is highly needed so as to usher the movement to the next stage. She therefore appealed to all for their usual cooperation.
