So I was just wondering if house music has a place in the Nigerian entertainment scene?
Rumour has it that there's a Pacha nightclub in Lagos?

Nigerians usually refer em as techno just lyk most of our music is wrongly classified these days. Ask an afro pop artiste his genre and he is quick to say hip pop (hop)! Even our awards hardly eva get em rit not to talk of our journalists!

Kwaito is actually very different from House. Kwaito is what you'd here from artists like Brickz, Mandoza etc. House is DJ Cleo, DJ Fresh, Bojo Mojo etc,

In Nigeria,house is not a major favourite, Nigerian artistes hardly make House music,pop and R&B is more common here. In the Europe,its the BOMB!

Nigerian clubs just like to play it safe. Better to play the usual tunes and not too much foreign content which they are afarid the common man will not identify with. It would be pretty niche but you would definitely pull the expats and intelligentisa looking for something different. Personally not much of a fan of some of this progressive house which has the big room effect and sounds more electro. Masters of Works, Ruffneck, CeCe and Crystal Waters is a healthy diet. Naija loves to copy trends,so dont be too suprised if you start seeing more of our artists exploring house/naija music fusions. R2beez feat Wanda Coal ' Allow Me To Kiss Your hand' has a house remix which indicates a possible move in that direction. Whether the sound will be novel is a different story entirely.
