There are a lot of organisms we let go in Nigeria without eating. These organism are so nutritious. Look at asians: they are stronger and live longer because they eat these organisms.

They include lizard, frog, cockcroach, ant, rat etc. To make tins worse when they see us they don't even get scared; they walk majestically because they know we don't eat them. Get to country like China these things are scare commodity.

my man, you can start eating those, i will just they watch. if after a year, you still they breathe, i go follow suit. cant imagine myself eating a roach. ewwww.

God forbid. You don't just eat anything because people somewhere are eating it. Watch what you eat and you'll live longer.

ewwww, not eating animals again. Though once my family and i ate snakes at a chineese restaurant, We also =had a monkey's tail sliced and shaped like noodles. mhh, we din't know this till wen we finished eating.

I just found this topic and it's interesting. It demonstrates that what we eat is a cultural acquisition as much as a nutritional consideration. After all, in the West we keep dogs and cats as pets rather than a food source.
I'm sure that the aforementioned Asians would be equally perplexed, if not horrified, by some of the things that Nigerians eat!

I, myself, have not tried lizards, but I have eaten frog legs, and I find them quite delightful. Insects are loaded with protein, but I'm not inclined to partake unless my hunger were to be extreme, thank you!

I've actually seen a TV documentary 'bout a guy eating roaches and Men 'twas disgusting, But he seemed like he loved it, My take on this is simple: One man's meat is another man's poison, eventually if it turns out that the poison ain't that poison after tasting it, then let it be meat!, Actually couldn't bear the thought of eating frogs 'bout 3 years ago, Can't say the same now, I love dem jumpers!!!!

canadian here... i went to the local Chinese grocery store and found a can with Korean lettering on it. overtop was an English sticker saying "FISH BAIT" but the can had nutritional facts and ingredients on it so i knew it was meant to be eaten as food. They were silkworms. I rinsed, soaked and drained them, then marinated them and roasted them for 30min. They were quite nice. Tasted like potato chips. However, no one else was willing to try my cooking.
