Ever duffed your cap for the naija police before? Let me see erhm, . . . . .HELL NO!!!!!!! I don't know about you. Do you shower them with praises for job well done? Are they nice guys? DO THEY REALLY SERVE and PROTECT? I have a friend whose elder brother joined the police some years ago. Sometimes I find it hard to criticize them in front of him because his brother is now one them N20 bad boys. lipsrsealed But more often than not he'll be the one to whin about them N20 boys. I'll then remind him of his brother and he'll be like; 'Yes They Are All Bad' Left to me I feel like running them over on the road most times when I see them, don't know about you. What do you feel about them? As a matter of fact, anything uniformed, government or private outfit in naija pisses me off most especially LASTMA. I see them as uniformed group with with intentions not uniformed. Is there roger boy out there that can make me change my mind about the police? I seriously doubt that though. No offense to nairaland police members but who cares? What do you feel like doing to them when they stop you on the road?

Oh. . . I LOVE them exactly the same way I loved the roach that fell into my bowl of Okporo riddled Egwusi soup.

I personally think they are just "pussies" i think they need to learn that the uniform is not forever, cos some pple have worn it be4 them and some will wear it after they are all gone, i have witnessed so many incidents that is jst way embarrassing to even say, these are the Servers and Protector of my pple.

I remember last time i visited Nigeria, and i decided to give my sister a ride to the office, just for us to have fun, her office was in the mainland, and after dropping her off, i lost my direction, and i saw the "olopas" and i stopped by them to ask for directon, i was amazed when the dude ask me who i was, and i said my name, he wanted some ID which i provided, then, he said, i cld be a bad guy, so they have to seach me andmy vehicle, so i was worried, cos i just changed some money and had that on me and my foreign passport, infact, i was so pissed, so i ask the guy, would i stop if i was a bad guy, and that if the police cant be of help without harrasing the citizen, who else cld be of help.

I remember how many times in a day i get stopped at junction at Allen, but wat was funny was the fact that most of all that stopped me, later became the security for pple that buy cars off me, cos i just call them up and they will escort pple that just buy rides while they yet to register the rides, so that is how messed up they are.

Infact, i have too many encounters with them.
But i think i blame the govt more, cos if you think about th qualifications of some the police officer and you see how much they are getting paid, it will be impossible for them not to be corrupt, but them, the high rank officers that are well paid are still cprrupt.
But dnt worry, all will change.

Re: How Do You Like Da Naija Police? by Nobody: 12:07pm On Sep 20, 2008
Right from when i was i a kid, ive always had and still have a lot of respect for these guys. They are a few set of courageous and brave Nigerians we have. With low pay, they risk their lives once in a while to do their duty.

However, there is a massive corruption going on in the police and that calls for an overhaul in the institution. But hold on, how do you overhaul a large institution like that when most of cops are paid peanuts and live in slums called barracks? Most times, the peanuts handed over to these guys as salaries are misappropriated by their superiors in the force.
Is the government ready to work on this?

I am not trying to exonerate these guys of all the blames especially on the N20 roger, but come to think of it, only very few nigerian drivers and their vehicles can pass for any test if properly checked or tested.

I've heard several police officers say that they prefered to collect egunje not because they feel good about it, but because if they chose to arrest the criminals; they are quickly giving bail and case closed by their superior in the office thereby throwing all their hard work in the trash.

How are the policemen suppose to be effective in their job when if anything happens to them on duty; their families are immediately forgotten.

Just like MEND, MASSOB, OPC etc, the current situation in NPF is simply a result of massive corruption, anarchy and neglet from the part of the government and the "i love nigeria all is well" attitude on the part of suffering and smiling nigerians.

On the other hand, stop giving them egunje, do the right things, face the stress they will put you through and maybe sanity and honesty will be the driving forces of the great institution at the end of the day.

Even though say these guys don show me pepper, I still duff my hat for the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) cool

Re: How Do You Like Da Naija Police? by Nobody: 11:20am On Sep 23, 2008
Yes oo, even though they can be very annoying sometimes, i will never deny them their brevity.
Besides, they are just as corrupt as the whole nigerian society that encourages corruption by "roggering" them.

Go ahead and open fire on them. After all, the guys of the underworld are doing it on a daily basis.

But the question should be; have you ever roggered them?
If not, have you ever insisted they take you to the station instead of roggering?
Do you think that majority of nigerians will pass a check on a normal day by the police?

By the time you are done answering these questions, you will find out that there's no difference between the NPF and average nigerian.

What about many of them that have died in the line of action?
have you ever witnessed any situation where they ran away from a robbery scene?

Re: How Do You Like Da Naija Police? by zelaws: 5:44pm On Sep 24, 2008
i remember years back
then i was in pry 5  i was going on errand for my mum
on my way i saw i ripe fruit on the tree beside a supermarket in my area
i climbed the guava tree
when i came down with the fruit one of the policemen that was at a check point near by call me
asked why do i have to climb the tree
collected the fruit and threw it away without any explanation
since then i see the police as a non considerate, disrespectful, frustrated, (abeg people help me join english)
set of people
the major cause of their bad reputation is that they feel inferior
most of them are area boys, ex robber, school drop-outs etc
