DID THEY CIVILIZE US?

This topic was necessitated by a recent discussion with a group of friends. The bone of contention was if the whites met us uncivilized and primitive. While my friends were quick to point out that the imperialists “enlightened” us through Christianity and science. They opened our eyes to our ‘hideous’ cultural practices and developed our lands. Yes, some of you are nodding in agreement but take a pause.

Did you know that Africa and indeed the black race had already attained a high level of civilization several centuries before the Portuguese ever set foot on the continent? The African Continent is no recent discovery. It is not a new world like America or Australia. While Europe was still the home of wandering barbarians, one of the most wonderful civilization on record had begun to work out its destiny on the banks of the Nile. Not only did social organization such as the family, clan and tribe evolve from Africa, Africa also produced the first formal education, music, dancing, painting, sculpture and the science of embalming the dead.

Early African priests created a 365 day solar calendar after observing the positions of the stars and with the establishment of the calendar as a frame of reference around 4241 BC began to set down their history.

So how did they civilize us? The whites met a society devoid of any form of stratification on the basis of one’s colour but they institutionalized racism. They have played up ethnic sentiments so that African ethnic groups can commit pogroms against one another while they capitalize on the chaos to further entrench their hegemony. The back man had already establish trade relations with the indigenous tribes of the Americans long before Christopher Columbus discovered it.

The black man dominated the world technologically, politically, economically and culturally. He thought farming, industrialization, commerce, how to organize cities and nation states, while his religion clocked over 6,000 years of uninterrupted supremacy. While the whites, half-savage were residing in forests and lakeside huts with no weapons other than their bows, spears and stone-tipped arrows, the blacks had iron weapons, bronze armour, all the resources of an industrial civilization and their cyclopean cities.

The so-called “civilized” people have introduced negative attributes and ideologies fuelled by their greed and materialism. They introduced individuality and immorality backed up by their religions. The world has been in turmoil and is now a catalogue of conflicts and genocides since they assumed the mantle of global leadership over six centuries ago.

The universal familial institution is now dysfunctional, no thanks to their “liberal” attitude towards homosexuality, divorce, single parenthood and abortion. The religion institution is now an object of mockery because they have anointed sodomites. HIV/AIDS, ebola virus and more recently proves have been used to decimate our populations through bio-terrorism, but are quick to label people who fight for their lands as terrors. So who is the civilized or barbarians.
