I'd start by saying this. Who gets paid. Who gets what's right the slave or the self acclaimed master. Do we all have equal rights or privileged ones are born rulers and masters. Who should live in affluence ; is it the guy who slaves away or the richie who lies on a beach in the bahamas....... Ponder

Good afternoon

When we do all we do for profit alone lots of hanky panky comes in. the socialist economy makes it possible for production and otherwise to collectively work towards satisfaction of everyone and not just the individualist profic orientation which makes people produce goods without care for quality and satisfaction

Also I'd stick to socialism because it makes it easy for people to live equally at the most possible level. Ensuring that cooperate ownership reduces the advent of wealth residing in the hands of a few in most cases unjustly

Capitalism is an economic system in which all or most means of production and distribution are owned and controlled by individual. While a socialist economy is one in which means of production are collectively owned and controlled by the state.

Businesses being in private hands relieves countries of financial burden, they will be able to concentrate more on the few government establishments left for them, if they can do everything, why did you think they go into privatization once in a while?.Practising socialism is burdensome on the states, how will a country cater for the population of the country without being in debt? Massive spending will take its toil on them, and this will have multiplier effect.
Picture Nigeria with almost 170Million people having to depend on government for everything. That will be recipe for revolution. Not with the gross mismanagement and endemic corruption in government parastatals.

Proponents of capitalism such as Adam Smith, David Ricardo believes competition is inherent in every individual. An economy become prosperous through competition. When there is competiton, among enterpreneurs, they will fall over themselves to produce quality goods and services at cheaper rates and at good quality so that they will be patronised more, invariably consumers gain more by getting what they want. The same cannot be said of a socialist economy, where everybody is working for the government, government provides everything, talents and enterprising spirit of some people are not harnessed, people will have lackaidasical attitude towards the work since they know whether they work hard or not, everything will be shared equally among them. Consumer loses out, because they cannot dictate what they want.

If we had practised socialism in Nigeria, you wiil not hear of the big wigs we have in Nigeria today such as Dangote, Folorunsho Alakija and others who were given high ratings in the Forbes list and invariable promote the image of Nigeria in good stead and in the eye of the world. Profits are re-invested by capitalists to fuel economic growth. Most of them have companies where they employ Nigerians. That is what capitalists can do! It is not obtainable in a socialist environment. Socialism is anti-ambition.

Socialism is smokescreen slavery. Though, they seek to promote economic equality. But everyone knows that economic equality is impossible. Workers are giving work to do and they cannot change it without consent. People are not allowed to own assets. The people are poor because they share things equally, while the bosses at these companies are neck deep in corruption, we all know government establishment are most often mismanaged. This will make the poor poorer and the rich richer. It will bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. So you see....Socialism is a failed system.

Countries of the world do not even practise socialism in totality again. The disadvantages of such system far outweighs the advantages, most especially in this modern world. Some of the businesses are now left in the hand of business owners, a case in point is China and former USSR.

Now I'd say capitalism is good but be sincere with me. Do you get paid your worth where you work. Privatization is better than the socialism you have explained above but is privatization paying......... A few individuals employ brains to slave themselves to enrich the so called bosses. Now adays our morality is sold on the platform of profit maximization. Single ladies are exploited and used to market the organisations. Unrealistic Targets are set and expected to be met by all means. Competition is good but not the type capitalism as brought. You spoke of the 170m pple in Nigeria where 250million fake phones are sold yearly, where substandard Tv,Dvds,Laptops and other electronics are imported and sold annually, where in a bid to compete with other companies fake stuffs are sold and we can't do nothing about it. Products are advertised on online shopping malls and when you call the company and ask if the product spec online is for real they say not. Competition that brings greed and gluttony isn't right. No system is perfect. I saw this write up while preping for this discussion I'd try to find the page and direct you to it.

Socialism is the collective ownership by all the people of the factories, mills, mines, railroads, land and all other instruments of production.
Socialism means production to satisfy human needs, not as under capitalism, for sale and profit.

Socialism means direct control and management of the industries and social services by the workers through a democratic government based on their nationwide economic organization.

Under socialism, all authority will originate from the workers, integrally united in Socialist Industrial Unions. In each workplace, the rank and file will elect whatever committees or representatives are needed to facilitate production. Within each shop or office division of a plant, the rank and file will participate directly in formulating and implementing all plans necessary for efficient operations.

Capitalism is an economic system in which trade, industry, and the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned and operated for profit. Central characteristics of capitalism include private property, capital accumulation, wage labour and, in some situations, fully competitive markets. In a capitalist economy, the parties to a transaction typically determine the prices at which they exchange assets, goods, and services.

By 1840 the term “socialism” was commonly used throughout Europe to connote the doctrine that the ownership and control of the means of production–capital, land, or property–should be held by the community as a whole and administered in the interests of all.

equality alone is not the essence of socialism. The heart of socialism is to be found in the idea of community and in the doctrine that men can realize their full potential and achieve human emancipation in community. By this touchstone, the seeds of modern socialism are to be found in Rousseau [see the biography of Rousseau].

Socialism is a social and economic system characterised by social ownership and/or social control of the means of productionand co-operative management of the economy, as well as a political theory and movement that aims at the establishment of such a system. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership(achieved by nationalization), citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them.

Capitalism is far better than socialism.
