Ghana’s away match against Guinea in next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier will be played at a neutral venue after CAF ruled on Saturday that bans on three countries from hosting matches will stay in place because of Ebola fears.

CAF’s executive committee decided on Saturday that bans on Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone hosting any international matches because of fears of spreading Ebola will be maintained.

This means Guinea’s clash with the Black Stars scheduled for 10 October will be played at a neutral venue robbing the Sylli National from getting home support for the game.

The match is expected to played in Morocco where Guinea played their previous match against Togo this month.
The three west African countries – at the epicentre of the outbreak of the highly contagious disease – had originally been banned from hosting all games until mid-September but that has now been extended indefinitely, CAF announced. It means Guinea and Sierra Leone must again move scheduled African Nations Cup qualifiers to alternate venues next month.Guinea had to play its opening group game against Togo in Morocco earlier this month and also last weekend staged an under-17 qualifying tie in Casablanca.

Sierra Leone could not find an alternate venue for their qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo 10 days ago and instead ceded home advantage to their opponents.

Liberia have no scheduled international matches in the near future.

Ebola has infected at least 5,357 people in West Africa this year, mainly in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, killing 2,630 of those, according to the World Health Organisation. The disease has also been reported in Nigeria and Senegal but these two countries have not been banned from holding games by CAF.

The epidemic has brought sport to a complete standstill in both Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Guinea were ironically on Saturday named as a future host of the Nations Cup finals in 2023 at the same meeting of CAF’s executive committee in the Ethiopian capital.

Teams from the affected countries were also subjected to vigorous checks before being allowed to play matches in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Ivory Coast and Uganda earlier this month.

Sierra Leone had a walkover in their Nations Cup playoff tie when the Seychelles refused them entry because of fears over spreading the virus.

Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah triumphed over his Ghana team-mates Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari in the Italian Serie A top-liner as Juventus managed a narrow 1-0 win over AC Milan at the San Siro on Saturday night.

Both Muntari and Asamoah lasted the entire duration of the game with the Black Stars duo picking yellow cards at the dying embers.

But Michael Essien had to watch the full proceedings from the Milan substitute bench.

Tevez, who scored both goals in Tuesday’s 2-0 Champions League win over Malmo, played an exquisite one-two with Paul Pogba before flicking the ball past Christian Abbiati midway through the second half.

Ghana new coach will be named later next month, a member of the three-man search committee Fred Pappoe has said.

The Football Association opened up application for the vacant Black Stars job after parting company with Kwesi Appiah on mutual consent.

Reports in the local media claimed, a substantive coach would be named on Friday to handle next month’s 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea.

But Pappoe, who serves as member of the Ghana Football Association Executive Committee, says Ghanaians would have wait a little longer.

“We have received about 28 or 29 applicant and we should trim it down to about 11 by the close of the week,” Pappoe said

“I have said this we are not in a hurry to appoint a new coach we should appoint a stop gap coach to take care of the game against Guinea and take our time in naming a good coach to come in after that.

“We are looking at somewhere in October.

Ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has revealed that Kevin-Prince Boateng verbally insulted him TWICE using the F-word in front of the other players on two separate occasions during the World Cup which resulted in the sacking of the Schalke star from the Black Stars camp in Brazil.

In an emotional presentation, Appiah revealed how he was humiliated by the Germany-born star during the team’s training sessions at the tournament in Brazil with all the present.

The former Black Stars coach has intimated to the World Cup commission, the stark level of indiscipline by German-born Ghanaian attacker resulting in his sacking from the national team.

Coach Kwasi Appiah said Kevin Prince Boateng used the f*** word twice, during a training session and after the game against Germany.

Coach Kwesi Appiah who played for the Black Stars for 11 years and captained the team for four years, said consistent verbal abuse against him did not set a good example for the younger members of the team.

Picking up an example of his indiscipline, the former Prestea Mines player revealed:

“During training, there was a tackle against his colleague which I ignored and there was a shot at goal. And I said good shot and he said “what the Bleep is this?”

The commission burst into laughter.

He ordered KP Boateng to the bench in the hope that after training, he would show remorse and apologise. But that never happened.

Much to his dismay, the Schalke 04 player hurled further abuse against him in the presence of the players and management.

“He made me very angry”, nonetheless, he said “for two days I had not reported it to Management”.

He said Kevin often “squeezed” his face whenever he found their paths crossing. After Ghana’s pulsating game against Germany in which KP Boateng was substituted, the player continued to abuse him.

The coach said he finally told Management who took the action to sack him.

F***: is it cultural difference or lack of respect

The place of the word f*** was also analysed by the commission. Was it an insult or a culture alien to Ghanaians, they wondered.

Coach Kwasi Appiah acknowledged that although the word is prevalent in English-speaking cultures, 27-year old Kevin “never used to be like that”.

Sometimes, the coach said, “most of the time I pretended as if I didn’t hear it” but after it became a consistent attitude, he had to lay down the law.

“When he over does it, that is when I have a problem”.

Kevin-Prince Boateng joined the Black Stars in 2010 after he opted to play for Ghana. He has had a controversial career with the Black Stars in his 15 caps for the nation.

Appiah’s Recommendations

The coach recommended that Ghana needs to adopt one football philosophy so that players can easily adapt to the national team and help make great strides on the world stage.

But with the culture of constantly changing coaches, this goal he said would be undermined.

He also wants the number of officials and political hanger-ons during tournaments reduced.

Re-echoing former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah’s advice, Kwesi Appiah said, Ghana’s training pitches need significant improvement to aid the development of the game.

Ghana international Andre Ayew has made history in football in France as the player with the highest number of headed goals in the French top-flight Ligue 1.

The Marseille winger made it a total of 15 goals with his head when he played in their league match this week.

Ayew’s jumped into history with a powerful header when he connected Brice Dja Djedje’s cross from the right for his first of two goals against Reims last Tuesday.

Ayew has been prolific with his head since the 2010/2011 season with Les Phoceens.

The 2014 World Cup star has two goals in seven French Ligue 1 goals this term.

Ghana qualified for the 2015 Africa U17 Championship after beating Cameroon 4-3 in Accra on Sunday in their final round qualifier return leg tie.

The Black Starlets needed a brace from promising talent Henry Medarious to ensure the hosts advanced 6-4 on aggregate.

Paa Kwesi Fabian’s side were quick to come out from the blocks with a goal from Issah Abass on five minutes before Medarious scored his first of the day in the 17th minute with a well taken goal.

Striker Jonah Osabutey added another on 36 minutes before a moment of madness in the Starlets defence which allowed n striker Nguene Armel to reduce the deficit in the 43rd minute.

The second half saw the Cubs of Cameroon come out on tops with their midfield dominating proceedings before getting their second goal through Bayemi Nguidjol four minutes after the break to make it 3-2.

Medarious restored Ghana two-goal advantage with another belter from the edge of the penalty box in the 78th minute but Forkem Naime Kong responded four minutes from time.

Ghana will join hosts Niger and six other countries for the tournament

PATRICK KLUIVERT is new Black Stars coach- Wikipedia

Former Dutch international striker Patrick Kluivert is the new coach of Ghana, according to Wikipedia. The veracity of the claim though, is doubtful as many users have access to edit the Wikipedia website, yet there have been times when such changes only went on to reflect to be true. What is certain is that the Dutch man did apply to coach Ghana last week, when the Ghana Football Association had opened up to applicants wishing to succeed James Kwesi Appiah.

However, the authenticity of the posting on Wikipedia cannot be verified as the Ghana Football Association has not officially named as replacement for Kwesi Appiah. Kluivert was assistant coach to Louis Van Gaal at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals and was among the 28 coaches who applied. He had a successful playing career for the Dutch national team and for club sides Ajax Amsterdam, Barcelona and Newcastle

President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi swore by the Holy Quran as he took his turn before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Nyantakyi was widely believed to be a Christian but a source close to the football chief has confirmed that he is indeed a Muslim.

The lawyer gave evidence on the activities of the GFA, the senior national team’s financing history, their preparations and will also provided a vivid account of happenings in the Black Stars camp during their campaign at the World Cup in Brazil.

He will also be expected to recommend on the way forward for the senior national team as well as other national teams when he returns to the box tomorrow.

The premise of the Commission’s sittings – the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium – was packed with journalists and many stakeholders in football who were there to witness today’s sitting and support Nyantakyi.

English Premier League duo Everton and Southampton are monitoring the progress of Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah.

Reports claim the Premier League duo are keeping tabs on the out-of-favour Ghanaian, and could launch a loan offer as soon as January.

Once a mainstay of the Juventus midfield, Asamoah has found it difficult to retain his position in the starting eleven.

The arrival of former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has ousted the 25-year-old from his usual role, with manager Massimiliano Allegri preferring the Frenchman’s experience.

Asamoah joined Juventus from Udinese for £15m, and is now valued at a whopping £19m – so any move from the Saints or Toffees is likely to be temporary.

Everton’s recent spate of injuries may force Roberto Martinez to enter the transfer market.

Attacking star Kevin Mirallas is set for a long spell on the sidelines – and without a fully fit Steven Pienaar or Gerard Deulofeu at Goodison – Everton are lacking a cutting edge.

Meanwhile Southampton have money to spend and my want to capitalise on their early success.

The Netherlands are still looking to beat Ghana in a a race to secure Feyenoord starlet Elvis Manu’s as an international player under the new Gus Hiddink regime, but just how important is this, and what is best for the young star?

Throughout what has been a roller-coaster season for the Rotterdam club Feyenoord under new boss Fred Rutten, the one thing fans have been able to agree on is just how promising Elvis Manu has been, and how valuable his contributions have been for the club.

The very question that is the subject of this article seems strange then; surely the Netherlands should of course try and beat Ghana?

Born on August 13th in Dordrecht, Elvin Manu played for the youth teams of SC Amstelwijck, SSW and latterly Feyenoord. At 5 ft 8 inches, Manu was never graced with immense physical presence, but his ever-growing reputation as a nifty and agile winger that oozes pace earn him a professional contract at Feyenoord on July 1st, 2013.

Since this point, Manu has been loaned to Excelsior (for a 16 game spell) in which he netted eight goals, asserting himself as a clear prospect in the forward department. Following this, a loan spell at SC Cambuur for half a season earlier in 2014 further elevated his reputation, and he made a flying start by scoring on his debut for the club.

In addition to this, Manu has had quite the interesting career at international level. Having represented the Netherlands from the under-16 stage through to the under-21 stage at present, it seems natural for the rather comically nicknamed ‘Manutelli’ to progress to the full Oranje.

However, and understandably so, there are two sides to this story. On April 8th of 2014,goal.com ran a story in which Elvis Manu declared he wished to represent Ghana at full international level.

“I want to play for Ghana and I am hoping for an invitation from Ghana, it has always been my dream to defend the colours of Ghana as I feel Ghanaian.” Manu said in the site interview.

It is 100 percent respectable and honourable that Manu feels so connected to the birth place of his parents, and of course he is fully eligible to represent Ghana.

The hearts of many of the Oranje coaching staff and supporters definitely sank with this news, as Manu is widely considered as one of the most promising prospects in the league in his position aged 21 or under. The news was especially disappointing considering he has represented the Netherlands at all previous levels, but there is nothing that can be done.

However, all is not lost, and it depends entirely on Manu being given an invitation from Ghana to play for them, which to everyone’s knowledge he has not yet received.

The Netherlands must seize such an ongoing opportunity and reach out to Manu, to assure him that he is definitely part of the future plans and is close to the squad. They can further enhance the chances of him changing his mind by including him in training and keeping him in touch with the big stage.

It is all very vague at the moment, and nobody know what is happening behind the scenes, but it is important to understand the situations at the respective national teams.

Ghana have a relatively well spread core, featuring well-known names such as Christian Atsu, Andre Ayew and Kwando Asamoah. Despite a disappointing World Cup 2014 campaign, the black stars have heaps of talent. There is a space in the attacking core, as Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Ayew and Majeed Waris could be perfectly complimented by someone of Manu’s stature and promise.

David Accam (the fourth attacker in the squad) is yet to make an appearance for the team at 24 years of age, playing his club football at Swedish side Helsingborg. Surely swapping Accam for Manu would bolster the attacking depth?

The situation with the Netherlands national team is slightly different. According to the current squad, the six forwards are as follows: Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben, Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Jeremain Lens, Luciano Narsingh and Quincy Promes.

Of those, one would currently rank Elvis Manu last, even behind Quincy Promes who has just 1 appearance for the Netherlands at 22 years of age. The fact is, Guus Hiddink couldn’t promise Manu consistent playing time at international level, which is a painful possibility for Elvis to have to digest.

The discussion, rather abruptly, ends here. From my point of view, I would love to see ‘Manutelli’ don the oranje and join a generation of Flying Dutchmen, however for his career I feel it wouldn’t be the best move.

Ghana is an exciting team to play for, and it is important fans set aside their own personal preferences and consider the future of an immensely talented player. He may shine for Ghana in the same time he wouldn’t even grace the bench for Holland, and that is the inevitable fact.

Become a Black Star, Elvis, you deserve the limelight.

Asamoah Gyan perpetuated his Ghana scoring run by netting the opener and setting up a penalty as the Black Stars edged Guinea’s Syli Nationale 3-1 in the 2015 AFCON qualifier at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Udinese star Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu climbed off the bench at the dying embers to seal the win for Maxwell Konadu’s side.

TOP OF THE MATCH: Baba Abdul Rahman

Find out who scored high marks who under-performed as GHANAsoccernet.com rates how the STARS fared against the Ebola struck country in the Northern regional capital.

Stephen Adams 5/10 Adams must take the blame for poor positioning in the Guinean equaliser. After two routine saves, the Aduana Stars keeper gave Ghana a headache when he rushed forward and allowed a ball go into his net. He was also slow in initiating attacks. He made a couple of routine saves though. Still leaving question marks around Ghana’s goalkeeping credentials.

Harrison Afful 6.5/10 Impressively offensively but was exposed at the back anytime he went forward. The Guinean wingers exploited the void with their pace and thrill. Dexterous and intelligent. Was a delight to watch going forward.

Baba Rahman 8/10 Top of the match performer. What an evening to remember for the Augsburg youngster. He set up Agyemang-Badu’s goal that ended the game as a contest in the last minute. Nearly got Ghana back in front in the early stages of the second-half. His curly effort from the edge of the area beat the Guinean keeper but missed narrowly.

Awal Mohammed 5.5/10 Not very compacq in his role. His partnership with Jonathan Mensah was not that good as the cohesion failed to show.

Jonathan Mensah 5.5/10 Made a couple of impressive clearances but was left exposed at some points at either halves.

Rabiu Mohammed 6.5/10 The Kuban Krasnodar man replaced Agyemang-Badu in the line-up that drew against the same side on Saturday. He occasionally slid back to join the defence for rearguard action. One of such interventions denied a goal-mouth chance. He created a glorious chance for himself but his power was not enough to beat the keeper.

Solomon Asante 7/10 The pocket-size winger returned to the team after the 2013 AFCON, taking the place of Everton winger Christian Atsu. He was slippery on the flanks and caused problems for the Guinean defence. He made a good statement about his daftness when his pass cut open the Guinean defence, finding Jordan who set up Gyan for the opener. Mesmerising the opposition defenders. Covered distance

Kwadwo Asamoah 6.5/10 On his 70th Ghana cap, the Juventus man was full of energy but always lacked the cutting edge with his setpiece delivery. He had the energy to charged forward but also expertly controlled the middle and cooled the pressure down.

Asamoah Gyan 7/10 Scored his 45th international goal in the Black Stars shirt, cooling rolling the ball into the unguarded net from close range. Ghana’s second was also from his sweat as he won a penalty which was converted by Gyan.

Jordan Ayew 6/10 Selfless once more. The Lorient attacker had all the chance to claim glory but he instead passed to Gyan who completed his back-to-back scoring run against the Syli Nationale.

Andre Ayew 7/10 Run into space well. Bombed forward with glee. Came close to restoring Ghana’s lead with a 43rd minute effort. Converted a spot kick in the second-half that restored Ghana’s lead. Replaced by Agyemang-Badu who scored the third goal.

SUBSTITUTES

Wakaso Mubarak 5.5/10

regarding discrimination

Moses Armah says he had to go to the United States for a medical check-up because his jaw was injured from a blow landed by midfielder Sulley Muntari.

He revealed this when he appeared before the World Cup Commission of Inquiry on Thursday in Accra.

Armah, a Black Stars management committee member, said he was hit twice and prevented a third one from landing on his face.

He was involved in a melee with Muntari where he unleashed a punch which floored the AC Milan player.

“Sulley’s blow affected my jaw,” he said.

He told the Commission that Sulley’s father called him days after the incident to apologise on Sulley’s behalf.

Muntari was handed an indefinite suspension from the team.

Left to Parker alone, he would love to have Sulley Muntari back in the team because he is a “good player” but he added the management of the GFA is yet to take a decision.

Moses ‘Mospacka’ Armah wants Sulley Muntari to return to the Black Stars despite being assaulted by the AC Milan star at the World Cup in Brazil insisting that the talented midfielder will add a lot of quality to national team.

But the owner of Medeama Football Club insists that Muntari must first apologise to the President of the country John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana before he returns to the squad.

The talented player was handed an indefinite suspension from the Black Stars for an unprovoked attack on Armah during the World Cup at a meeting to resolve issues on their unpaid appearance fees.

The Ghana FA official revealed that he was only appealing to the players to calm them when they angry about the unpaid monies from government after President Mahama had spoken to the players to assure them that the money will be paid.

Armah revealed that the AC Milan player stepped to slap and punch him in the face just when he got up to assure the players before he also hit the player back as he attempted the third attack on him.

This resulted in Muntari’s indefinite suspension from the national team but Armah says the player must be recalled if he makes the necessary apologies because he is talented.

“I cherish Sulley Muntari’s style of play. He is a good passer of the ball and can score from unexpected angles,” said Armah of the midfielder.

“I think that he should be given another chance to play for the Black Stars. I am a Christian, so I have forgiven him.”

Armah says Muntari must also be given the chance at the World Cup commission why he attacked the Ghana FA official insisting the attack came to him as a shock.

“He should also be given the chance to appear before the Commission of Inquiry and say his side of the story,” Armah concluded when giving evidence to Ghana’s World Cup commission.

Muntari is currently an indefinite suspension enforced by the Ghana FA.

Muntari was axed from the team along with Kevin-Prince Boateng at the World Cup for various acts of indiscipline, sacked from the Black Stars camp in Natal for various incidents of indiscipline.

Do you think Muntari should be recalled to the Black Stars? Do you think he should apologise for the incidents in Brazil?

Ghana international defender Baba Rahman climbed off the bench to assist the consolation goal for Augsburg who slipped to a 2-1 loss at Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

Augsburg were losing 2-0 at Mainz after the host scored twice in the first-half but Baba stepped out of the dug-out to give them some hope when he set up a goal Tobias Werner to halve the deficit.

The 21-year-old dropped to the bench due to his late arrival but when he was brought on in the Canadian international Marcel di Jong in the 56th minute, he made impact.

With an assist similar to his work during Ghana’s mid-week triumph over Guinea in the 2015 AFCON, the former Asante Kotoko full-back employed his pace to lay a visionary pass to Werner who firmly nailed the ball home for the consolation goal.
