You see, it's not the fact that the politician has his tomato face colourfully branded on these bags that disturbs me. It's the fact that he has them referred to as "Sadaqatul Jariyah" - ceaseless charity!

This is not charity, for it's being offered in expectation of a certain return, favour. This is also not ceaseless, for we all know it stops after the elections. This is an outright exploitation of a people's vulnerability; a people whose economic troubles were caused by mismanagements of public funds and abuse of public trust by the same "humanitarians". This is also a clear misrepresentation of the Islamic concept of continuous alms. Yet these political charlatans are taken more serious by the electorate, in their obsessions with upgrading the infrastructure of the stomach!
