How I Suffered At Murtala Mohammed Airport Today::::::::::::::::::::::::::: by Nobody: 4:05am On Jul 02, 2014
On tuesday1st july) 2014, I went to pick my aunt that just arrived Nigeria from the murtala mohammed international airport. I swear that airport is a disgrace. I am not talking about the infrastructures this time because we all know they are not up to par.
I am talking about how things are run and managed at the airport.

First off all, no one (except the vip's whom were mostly whites) was allowed to drive up to the old car park which was closer to the arrival section and by every means more convinient to use.
I only discovered this when I was turned back by some fierce looking security men. While they were telling me to go back in their normal rude way, some white men with police escort passed through the same road I was asked not to pass. I felt bad and I wished I was white or half-cast with police escorts too so I can opress the black man and break their laws.

Finally, I told my brother to take the car to the new car park while I looked for my aunt since its been over 30minutes she arrived. After about 5 minutes of searching, I found her standing in front of the arrival gate with 5 hefty looking luggages stacked on the trolley. My liver cut. lipsrsealed

I pushed the trolley down all the way to where you will get the airport shuttle that would take you to the new car park. This was like another 4 minutes walk on its own but with the load stacked on the trolley, it took about 10-15 minutes to get to where you will wait for the airport shuttle.

Finally, we got there but that was actually where my nightmare began.
The queue was soooooooo darn long. It was as long as a brt(mass transit) queue during peak hours and very much as rowdy as one.
The line moved slower than mikel obi and after about 30-45 minutes, we made it to the front of the queue with our 5 hefty bags. You would think that is where the struggle ends but trust me, it only got worse. I dont wanna go into the pushing and shoving experienced in order not to waste your time.
As soon as we were about to board the bus (airport shuttle) the driver shut the door and drove off. We had to wait another 25 minutes for another shuttle to arrive.
Before I go further, I have to add that the bus boarding area was muddy, the environment was bushy, the roads were untarred and bad.

Another bus finally arrived after a wait that seemed like forever. As soon as it threw its door open, the rush for space began and it was unprecedented. There was no form of coordination or any authority figure to direct the affairs of things. The only faan official there (by the name Ekene) seemed to care more about the trolley than the passengers. He was rude and toutish. Inshort, he was daft lol.
I rushed into the shuttle with the smallest bag and quickly secured a corner for me and my aunt. Then I went down to help her with the rest while keeping a watchful eye on my corner in order to prevent encroachment. By this time, I already had potopoto (dirty mud) all over my feet and legs.

Finally, we were in the bus. Most people were standing. As a matter of fact, I would recommend standing cos if someone lets out a nasty fart, the seated folks will bear the full brunt. We were jam-packed into the bus. For a second I imagined we were jews getting sent to nazi concentration camp.

After about 10minutes drive, we got to the new car park where I asked my brother to wait with the car. As soon we got down, I realized I was totallly drained. Called my brother up and he came to pick us at the bus terminal after about 20 minutes. The idiota didnt know the bus terminal was in the car park so it took him a while to locate.

I felt really bad.
You pay toll fee when going to the international airport,. You also pay fee when parking in their car lot. Despite all the millions generated per day, nothing seems to be really working in the airport.
My aint spent 12 hours in a plane only to pass through more stress in Nigerian airport than all through her flight.

My name is icebeatz and I am disappointed.

Follow me on nairaland and I follow back

I said the same thing a few days ago, but waternogetenemy or whatever his name is wanted to lick stella oduah's azz by telling me that the dirty airport has been "transformed".

That day, I knew for sure that chivalry had died in Nigeria. Men were pushing me aside to get on the shuttle.

The airport looks like it hadn't been touched for 10 years. Stella left less than 2 years ago.

Mind you, Stella's just is not limited to the interior of the airport. It was her job to transform the exterior too, from landscaping to bus stops/shuttles.

Is it not you and Oduah people that have been lying on this so called transformation of the FG? Well, I just wish travel visas out of Nigeria will be cancelled so Nigerians can enjoy Jona till they are killed by his much fouled air till 2050, drop dead like chickens, while they collect a small bag of rice in exchange for their destinies and be brainwashed to sing his praises to high heavens while he and his family never experience what you sillies do everyday! Chai the thought of travelling here is so exciting, and living close to their airport and seeing planes take off and land always make you wonder when next you'd take an international flight! The taxis drop you off at the very entrance of the check in line, grab a trolley, load your bags and to start to enjoy your travel experience. Check in within minutes, drop of your bags and walk around inside the massive airports looking at all the shiny and beautiful things and people around, before boarding your flight! Everything is great until you land in MMA and this is always the worst part of the journey from immigrations officers trying to ask for a bribe, to paying for trolleys, or the chaos at the exit and nightmare transporting all your luggage into the car and leaving the airport! Naija should be forced to leave in Nigeria, no more visa to America, Canada, Europe or any sane societies where they do not shout GEJ till 2050 but demand accountability from their leaders at every level.

At one point my uncle advised me not to get past the gate that divides arrivals from the people outside.

"Do you want a taxi?" "Taxi?" "Madam, taxi?"

Of course, you just brush it up and send. You are not an editor nor a member of the editorial board of any of the dailies and so you can not know what makes the dailies, your own is to send and let them decide! Anyway, the article reads very funny and it will be a good eye opener!

Nigeria Airports are now becoming something else just because of insecurity the citizens are now facing hell in their own land.
I just don't when our Government will think and start making use of modern technologies do they want to say there is no fund to invent all these? Can't blame them though many of them are old cargo that only live with nothing in the upstar.

Just implement modern technologies and recruit qualified personel to maintain monitor this and see how beautiful live will for you(Government) and me.#usetechinsteadoftouts

what I usually do is sort out those policemen. All those shout of "go back" means nothing. When they see you have like 500 bucks rolled in your palm. you know get wahala.

My dads driver packs at the car pack. I would just give him a call to drive and meet me at the arrival gate. We load the vehicles within 5 minutes while I sort out the men in black.

Trolley usually cost N200. But if you give an higher denomination, those crooks won't give you change. They usually demand to be paid in dollar or Euro. grin
